Reading some of the tweets from U's players I am not sure how some watchers appreciate how much two matches in 48 hours played in blistering heat has taken out of the players. They may well be conditioned footballers but the sort of temperatures experienced over this BH will have tested many to the full.
Perhaps, therefore, us lot standing under the comparitive shade from the trees couldn't appreciate it. However, an official drinks break in both halves suggests yesterday was even hotter than Saturday as the ref didn't allow for any - not that it stopped Dover from doing so.
Obviously disappointing to concede in the last seconds of the match and in the manner it came as the ball should have been cleared before the first cross was swung over and the second led to the finish through a clutch of U's players. Can't complain with a point as other than David A almost catching Walker out with a cross I think that was our only attempt on target other than skip's penalty, dispatched with usual aplomb.
Aldershot had the better of the chances but it was two tired teams out there yesterday and I suspect the final whistle couldn't have come soon enough for some of the players.
An interesting day for Connor Shields who became the second hero of the sporting weekend with his quick thinking. It seems Dan M is ok but may have not been but for Shield's actions. He then went onto miss the target when a decent opening had been made, got booked anf if Carl Brook had been refereeing would have been sent off for a shirt pull before being immediately substituted. (Mr Brook showed another red again yesterday and his two season record is "impressive").
Probably common sense officiating from yesterday's ref who I thought had a decent match. He also picked up on the time wasting too, visibly making his point. Ref from Saturday, take note you muppet.
The away end was fine with better catering facilities than last year and no portaloos.
More Magpies on Saturday in what will be a difficult fixture.

And Mr Eastmond would have got his 2nd yellow of the season for doing exactly the same thing about 10 minutes prior. Thank heavens Mr Brook wasn't there!

Think ref playing advantage saved them both tbh. Would have been on harsh on Shields to get s/o after what he did but had Craig E been booked then the ref would've had to send Shields off.
