KO in 7 hours. I'd take a point

A point wouldn't be a bad result but Yeovil are a club in freefall who've been disastrously mismanaged since their one season in the Championship and morale there seems to be at an all time low. Meanwhile, U's better results have been on the road. I think there's a decent chance of an away win tonight.

I do of course hope for a decent performance from us this evening. I note that Yeovil picked up points on Saturday
Also I read on Twitter yesterday that they have signed two players with League pedigree. One,a goalie who has previously been at Coventry. The other on loan from Brighton for the remainder of the season is described as a 'attacker".

We need to restore some self-belief after Saturday's setback.
My recommended pub is the Quicksilver Mail (168 Hendford Hill BA20 2RG). Named after an Exeter-London mailcoach, this is a good stop for food and West Country ales. It's on the A30 just south-west of the town centre; the football ground is further out to the north-west.

There's not a greal deal close to the ground other than residential. I think there's one pub in the vicinity which didn't look up to much, and the ground is quite a distance from the town centre for anyone who might be travelling by train.

Looks like we've only been able to name 4 subs. Milsom, Bennett and Bolarinwa all out injured. Ben Wyatt at left back. I hear he's from St Albans but know little else.

Lost 1-0. A better performance than on Saturday, and we were a bit unlucky with the goal. But that's our unbeaten away record gone, and we've taken only a single point from our last four games.
With both our regular full backs missing, new signing Wyatt came straight into the starting XI at LB (and didn't look out of place) with Eastmond slotting in at RB. Barden returned to the side in the holding midfield role. Tuson-Firth started on the left in place of Bolarinwa.
Those complaining about the long-ball tactics in our last game would have been pleased to see some fluid midfield passing from Sutton this evening, with Kenny Davis involved in most of our best moves. Unfortunately Aaron Jarvis again toiled largely in vain as a lone striker.
The high balls came mostly from the home side, who threatened from a succession of corners and free kicks. And their goal came from a fk, awarded a little harshly against Barden. We cleared the initial danger, and there was more than a hint of offside in the second phase of the Yeovil attack, but no flag was raised, a shot was cleared off the line, the ball falling kindly for Bradbury who duly scored.
We finished with Dundas, Kearney and Wright up front, but they were again brought on too late to have much chance of making an impact.
Tonight's results leave us in 17th place, three points clear of Barrow who now occupy the highest relegation spot.
We now have to hope we do better against Notts County in the league than we've done in the FA Cup.

People keep going on about playing 2 up, but we’ve only kept 1 clean sheet in 9. Surely that is the more pressing problem?

It doesn't matter if you play 10 up front if you can't get the ball to them. It looks very much to me that other teams have sussed out the way Matt plays and are countering that. We don't seem to have a change of style to give the oppos something else to think about. The goals have dried up, the attacking threat has diminished. If you go away from home on a Tuesday night in this league and concede just 1 you are not defending that badly.

If you go through Matt’s post-match i/vs he’s frequently critical about the way we’ve played and there have been several occasions where we’ve played with injured players or struggled, like last night, to put out a team. So I can’t see how other teams could suss out the way Matt plays, as I don’t think we’ve played how he wants us to!

So I can’t see how other teams could suss out the way Matt plays, as I don’t think we’ve played how he wants us to! The simple fact is that the ball isn't sticking up front so our defence is constantly under pressure. Our front man is not supported quickly enough.Yesterday for the first 15 - 20 mins our wingers were up there with him but gradually dropped further backwards. That maybe a matter of fitness. Once we had conceded we were a little slow to change the system and didn't give the subs enough time to get in the game. A better performance than Saturday with a walking wounded team. Barden was excellent shielding the back four and i was impressed with the full back Wyatt who had an impressive debut. He has good pace and a good range of passing.

I fear the new manager is on a hiding to nothing by following Paul Doswell. Good luck to him.

Admittedly wasn’t there last night but seeing the squad list last night I’m a tad worried - how can the squad be so depleted already 🤔 (players playing with knocks and too many games in a short space of time I’m guessing). There’s a real shortage of goals in us - I understand Tommy was carrying a slight knock last night but I’d love to see him and Jarvis given a go together.
Hats off to the travelling 82 last night. Onwards and upwards! Here’s to Saturday.
