Sutton United should start by finding a goalkeeper.Preferably someone of six foot plus who can command the area or at the very least collect a few crosses from corners and free kicks. He should also be someone who does not keep getting caught in no mans land so that opponents can knock or lob the ball over him into an empty net. A goalkeeper who possibly meets those criteria was sitting on the Sutton bench for the last three games.

Looking at the highlights again, that really was a cracking goal by Ajiboye. Literally picked the ball out from no where, 5 Ebbsfleet defenders couldn't get near him and perfectly struck that their keeper had no chance of getting it.
Possibly my goal of the season so far.

The match stats accompanying today's NLP report make rather sober reading. Ebbsfleet had three shots on target and (assuming the penalty and free kick are included) scored from all of them. We scored from two of five on-target attempts. They had one corner in the entire game and scored from it. We had thirteen and scored from one of them. Of course stats only tell you so much. But they do suggest that there's still work to do on our set pieces. The free kick wouldn't be included - it hit the post so was technically off target. We missed the chance from 5 yards out in the second half when your defender blocked on the line.

He did do well - certainly still had a lot to do even though we gifted him the ball in the middle & a well hit finish, but we did back off & off to allow him the shot.

That’s what defenders say (we did back off and allow him to shoot) when any forward/attacking player dribbles at them. It’s very difficult to stop forward momentum and it’s a real art to tackle when a player is advancing they way DAVID A was. You hear it on the terraces up and down the country a lot - ‘go on run at them’.....
