Even if Kyle's shots didn't trouble their keeper much, at least he was taking people on and beating them, so hopefully he will continue in that vein. We still have trouble in picking out players in space from crosses or by-line cut backs. Improving this would lead to more chances, I feel. Don't know if this is the attackers fault or the crosses / cut backs are played too hastily. I do agree though, that a more commanding midfield presence would help but this would mean sidelining one of Beauts, Easty or Kenny. Not a decision to be taken lightly.

I know it's a club TV interview but why doesn't the interviewer challenge him more? Also Gray says I don't want to change the shape. Why not? The shape is not producing any goals. Precisely. The interviews are farcical.

Most interviews are farcical nowadays. It's mainly because,a bit like this forum.you are not encouraged to say what you really think.
You occasionally get a good old fashioned outburst like that Southampton player last year whose name escapes me, but players now,in all sports are given phrases to say and others not to be used.
That's why you hear all the terrible claptrap on programmes like MOTD.Personally,i tape everything and fast forward through it all

Looking back a year to the same weekend the bottom four looked like this
21. Maidenhead (19th) 22. Dagenham and Redbridge (18th) 23. Braintree (22nd) 24. Dover (14th)
Dover were 6 points from safety at that point, and yet finished 16 points clear of the drop. Dagenham finished 12 points clear and Maidenhead 10 points clear. Aldershot who finished in the bottom four (and didn't go down because of Gateshead) were in 13th, 7 points clear of the drop zone.
While I'm not saying we shouldn't be concerned, only a fool would say we are destined for relegation at the start of November.

I believe Wayne Brown is the only other midfielder at the club, and yet to be fit. From what I remember, he was not a 'hold the ball up and switch the direction of play' style of player. Beautyman, Eastmond and Davis have been the mainstays of midfield since results started to decline last season. We have in that time through choice and necessity changed all our attackers and all our defenders, without improving our goal-scoring record. Therefore it is at least time to examine the midfield. I think, without suggesting any of those three is not worth his place, that the combination of two or all three of them duplicates some of the tasks expected of the unit and does not accomplish the platform role. I don't think our attack will function as well as it can unless the service to it from midfield is altered.

Infact Kenny missed the last 7 games of the season due to injury. Eastmond has played more often than not this season (and at the tail end of last season) as a defender. Only Harry has been more present in midfield, and to be honest, he's looked like one of the brighter sparks in this side. I wonder how many games have we played with all 3 of those in midfield at the same time (please anyone feel welcome to jump in and give that fact)?

Thought it was about time after many years of reading the forum that I’d post something on our situation, In my humble opinion things started badly before the season started with the turnover of the squad Keeper- Letting Ross worner go and keeping butler was the first of 3 mistakes on the squad front, I want a keeper to dominate the six yard box ,who the center half’s can rely on to come for crosses in the last few minutes of games when we are holding on, we must have the smallest goalkeeper in the league, just look at the giant in goal for Halifax last week. Plus I’ve never seen a goalkeeper get chipped from inside our 18 yard box as many times as butler Jonah Ayunga= how we came to letting this lad go I’ll never know, played a lot out wide last season, but when played in his proper position center forward we could all see what a player we had for the future, I see he is banging them in at H@W . Nicky Bailey= we knew we were going young with the squad, the team lacks on field experience especially when Skip is out with injuries . Now there might be reasons I’m not aware of that these 3 players were not kept on, I’m sure one of you good people will be able to tell me if so Biggest gripe I have at the moment is formation, the team squad as we stand is all set for a 3-5-2 We have the center half’s to play it we are over stocked in midfield I won’t go on about not putting players on the half way line when defending corners as I’m sure I’ve gone on for far to long for a first post.

Ross was out of contract and Jamie wasn't. Couldn't afford both of them.
Nicky Bailey missed many games over past two seasons suggesting his body could no longer cope with the physicality of NL football. He is not getting any younger.
Funny that Dos played Jonah wide but this season playing him in a more forward role. He wasn't going to be first choice at Havant but took his chance when Kedwell was injured pre season. Should remember it is the level below.

Found this on the H&W forum:
Worner seems to have a flap in him every game too. I assume he was punching everything yesterday because of the conditions, but none of them seemed to get outside the 18 yard line....

Jonah one a bit of a mystery to me. And I always thought Ross was the better keeper. But guess we need to look forward now!

Sorry I’ve not worked out the copy and paste part yet, but thanks to mark f for the information on the 3 players, So we could have sold butler and got money for him and re signed Ross? I see Nicky Bailey has played 14 times already this season, no bookings!! must be getting slow in the tackle 😀 I think we will see Jonah at a higher level over the next few years. But yes we now have to look upward and forward . Anyone have any thoughts on my 3-5-2 formation With no right back at the moment, 3 center backs Barden and Davis holding milsom was made for the wide left in the 5 and Bolarinwa the right of the 5 beautyman central Omar and Aaron up front Maybe I play to much football manager!!!
