Obviously there’ll be some players that have played on both flanks and it's okay at this stage if they end up being nominated in both categories.

Can we nominate someone who has already made it in the team (i.e Dan Wishart?). There's always one! (I’m sure somebody has used that line before….I just can't remember who) What you’ve hit upon though is the only slight issue with doing the voting this way. When I first suggested a voting system (in the GOAT thread), my original thought was to collate every single nomination first and then identify which position they would be best suited for. Not sure if that would have been better, but at least doing it the way we are gives players additional chances of making the team.

How can you pick a best XI and have one player in two positions?
There is no issue in the way you have gone about this amberchoc. Not so sure about the logic of others though?

I actually think it could work like that. If one player is particularly skilled and versatile, he might be the best we've had in two different positions but if we are asked to vote on his slightly less good one first, he'll be voted in for that but then miss out on his best position because he's already got a place elsewhere - meaning the team we end up with wouldn't actually be one most consider to be our best possible.
For example, player X gets 12 votes for position A and player Y gets 10. Player X wins.
Then you have a vote for position B. Player X gets 19 votes, Player Y gets 3.
In that scenario wouldn't it be better to put player X in position B and player Y in position A, despite player X winning the vote for position A?
Not saying this exactly reflects what's going on here, I just think it would make sense to have that flexibility.

Sorry, but that is surely not the essence of this project. It is to pick the best eleven not ten players with one of them playing both roles on the left flank.
Actually an insult to those other players who have played in either role and also a lack of imagination on the part of those who think one player is the best in both roles.
If we went down that route, we'd probably have Roarie Deacon occupying at least three of the attacking roles in the team.

Simple answer. Wishart (or whoever it may end up being) can be nominated, but won't make the position as they are already in the side. Especially as for most of the decade left and right midfielders were interchangeable.

If we include him in the nominations and he wins, should we then have another vote as to whether he should be switched to left-wing and Aswad Thomas (runner-up at left-back) upgraded?? Or is that being unnecessarily over-elaborate?

I think maybe I didn't make myself clear enough - I'm feeling rather poorly today With my method you'd still end up with 11 players and you couldn't have one player in more than one position. You'd remove player X from his original position once voting shows people would prefer him in the other one, and replace him with player Y who was a narrow second choice for the original position. It was just a thought anyway, and could work as a sort of tie-breaker if needed.

If he has a chance of getting in the team we should probably give him his correct name - Ross Stearn.
I'll be going with Beautyman.

So, we’ve got Ross Stearn and Harry Beautyman nominated so far. I’ll throw Binnsy into the mix. Anybody else?
We’ll start the poll for this one after the current poll expires on Wednesday night.

Roarie Deacon - because in my team at least he'd play on the left with someone else on the right.
