A very interesting read in the NLP this morning by Paul Doswell on these payments, on how is it fair to other clubs who do not. It extends from the Premiership down to our own National League. How did it happen, simple, clubs were frightened to write into players contracts that X amount will only be paid whilst the club was in that division. Hence clubs are saddled wages they can't afford when the club gets relegated. I find that the two clubs relegated from Division 2 to the National league receive £750,000 YES £750,000 talk about an unfair playing field from day one. Worth a read. The reason teams get relegated at the end of the season, they were not good enough!

Nothing after that which means parachute payments stop for Chesterfield and Barnet for next season. Given the publicised predicament Barnet are in that may hit them hard. May affect Chesterfield too as they have 43 non playing staff

Interesting how many of those benefiting from that "unfair playing field" go back up though.

I thought the parachute payments were the price for getting the EFL clubs to agree to 2 up, 2 down.
