Mudchute Park is the recent name it has today. No picture but it would not help because - though still grassed - there isn't a terrace or stand in sight. Yet two famous football teams played their first home matches at this place. The first, you might think should have been on the other side of the river. The second now are on the other side of the river but should be here. Who are they? I'll hazard a guess at Woolwich Arsenal for the first one.

Aah it is the top end of St George's where we played Evesham. Whenwe went there in 1982, that covered terracing was full of local skinheads who followed us around the ground and I ended up sitting in the main stand.

Yes.Can't deny it could get a bit feisty up there but I have to say it was one of my favourite places on earth. The atmosphere at SGL, particularly at night could be absolutely electric.I miss it dreadfully but am lucky that I still have another "lane"that I love.

Not quite in the Wimbledon to Milton Keynes class, but it would have been a difficult journey for the friends and family of the Woolwich Arsenal workforce players from Woolwich by train to Greenwich and through the foot tunnel to the Isle of Dogs to watch a game.
I had a flat on the Isle briefly and walked with neighbours across Mudchute park to Asda. I would quiz them about the two teams, none of them got it right or could believe it.

Ha! I figured this one might prove tricky. I believe we only played at this ground on a couple of occasions (pre-season). Here’s another photo from a match in progress. The strip of one of the teams is a huge clue!

They both have me in a quandry. Think the pitch action one is from the 80's and maybe Wexham Park.
Have an idea of the other one. The stanchions on the roof are a clue.
