Notts County at home on 13 October could be an organisational challenge, but that date being a Tuesday should help with managing the attendance.
We don't yet know whether (or when) we'll be able to go to the away games. Most of the longer trips are after Christmas, with three in January (Altrincham, Torquay (on a Tuesday!) and Hartlepool) and another three in March (King's Lynn, Chesterfield, Halifax).

If cases continue to rise there is no guarantee of even being able to go to home games. And the more people travel round the country going to away games the greater chance of a rise in cases, so I would think it is madness to even consider going to away games this season. everyone should just focus on following the rules in the local area so that we can all attend home games. sorry if I have come across a bit negative! PS Maidenhead first game of the season HOME WIN

I hate it when we lose the opening game of the season, but I suppose I might as well get used to the idea. Look on the bright side - we'll be bottom come 5pm on 3rd Oct so the only way will be up from there!

It will only take one player to get tested positively for COVID-19 for a match to be postponed though. We will have games postponed because of this, especially with rising cases.

Once we beat them 4-1 on the opening day so it can happen...
You can practically guarantee Maidenhead either first or last day. One season not too long ago we had both!

Well the PM has said it. The Government is going to review/trim the initiative to allow some spectators back into stadiums wef 1 October. He said that the Culture Secretary will announce more detail shortly.

It may be that the lower non-league clubs are benefitting from the lack of higher standard football. I mas at Guildford v Abbey Rangers last night, where the gate of 211 was their highest ever for a league game! The FA Cup tie i saw between Stansfeld (Step 6) and Punjab United (step 5) had a gate of 269. Every cloud . . . .

I was at Worcester v Tividale on Wednesday night Tony First game at new ground so 300 there plus well over 500 applications turned down. Not bad little set up.Adequate for level 6.Worth adding to your go to list!

Anyone got any educated guesses as to whether we'll actually be allowed a crowd for the start of the season? I assume it's still under review, our level being deemed as part of the 'elite'? Although I am starting to lose my bearings.
Or do we wait for a hyperfunctional system carrying out 10 million virus tests per day, using technology that hasn't yet been invented, at an estimated cost of £100bn pounds?

I am not saying I agree with the government, but I think what a lot of people are missing, whether its football or holidays or mass gatherings etc. Although this virus is an invisible enemy, we like most other nations are living under an effective state of emergency, everything is under review all of the time. The government has powers to change anything on a dime, I am not saying fans will or won't be allowed in next month, I don't know, only that things are fluid all based on those COVID numbers. The club can only make plans based on the current status of play, but just like those who decided to go on holiday, no one should be surprised if things suddenly change, they could even change back and forth several times during the season.

Yup, points taken. But can the Conference Leagues actually run a stop / start season? Or, financially, get through a season with the assumption that much of it might be non-crowd? I mean, again not ingnoring your points, but we have to work to some model. I don't see how this can be run on permanently shifting sands.

We're all wondering the same thing. My feeling is it is unlikely. As a hospitality business owner I have had to get used to this chronic uncertainty, things changing with basically no notice. Not to mention seemingly arbitrary rules based on how good they sound as a slogan. The rule of six being a perfect example, obviously everyone has now brought their gatherings forward in a mad dash to see friends, meaning this weekend becomes one giant super spreading clusterxxxx so expect a big uptick in the r rate in about 7 days time, which will probably put the kybosh on fans at games. Poorly thought out and reactionary leadership. One feels sorry for not only the local football clubs but the thousands of businesses hanging by a thread.

For those keen on this sort of thing, like me, this spreadsheet is updated at a local council level daily at 4pm. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1APtcBmI4JeTR0Ysufjavgg2gy4MBiHz0Hf9eKIp5BSo/edit#gid=2084569822The good news here is that within London, Sutton have now become the best performing out of the 32 boroughs. It's a real positive for us, but of course as we know in the general scheme of things it's not the entire story. It is reassuring to know that the people in the borough seem to be acting responsibly.
