I can't really get my head around where we currently are?
We can go to a pub and drink with our mates, we can go to a nail bar and have a manicure, but you can't watch football outside and kids can't go to school.
Its too early for pubs, football with crowds and nail bars, it is right for people to go back to work and for kids to go to school. Foreign holidays and allowing others to come in to the UK was where it all started.
We are heading for a 2nd wave and even longer time away from football at least with crowds IMO.

I yearn for the days when the only wave I risked getting caught up in was mexican.

As stated at the beginning of this thread, everyone will have their own approach and opinions will vary greatly. Personally, I will be back at football (and rugby for that matter) as soon as we're allowed to be, regardless of whether the conditions imposed are stringent or lax and I can't wait for that day - even though obviously I'm going to have to!

You may be right about a second wave but I don't think it's inevitable. Every time there's been a large gathering, be it on the beaches, London (both with left wing communist thugs the first time and right wing EDL type thugs the second)......it was predicted and it never happened. Regardless of whether there is a second wave, I would be genuinely surprised if the whole country endures a second lockdown, simply because the country can't afford it.

I feel that there will be a second wave but not in the way of total lockdown again but in hotspots such as Leicester is experiencing at the moment. It will occur because of the various gatherings that have occurred recently via either demonstrations or the mad rush to have a drink “up town”, especially with the social distancing experienced in Soho. It will occur because of the dispersal of the gatherings after the event to their various abodes, this is when COVID-19 will strike back. I have no problem with the resumption of football especially at Sutton because I will be masked up and will observe distancing which I feel sure will be easy enough at Sutton. Common sense will I’m sure ‘kick in’ by all concerned. Bring it on!

I hope I'm wrong here but it seems to me that the actual mechanics of staging a match during this pandemic is not the biggest problem. Last season, due to the good housekeeping of the club we were able to keep our head above the water when it came to the budget. That was with income from the bars, merchandise, facility hire etc. Even then we needed to run the Amber 500 draw to subsidize the away travel costs. Would we be able to afford to compete in this league without that income? I can't see a socially distanced bar generating anywhere near the income of pre covid. I'm assuming it would require a greater number of staff to even open the bars, what with cleaning and serving. Delighted to be shown I'm barking up the wrong tree here, just didn't want to get my hopes up.

I imagine that if the bar fully reopens then it would have to follow the same rules as pubs. That would involve more rigorous cleaning, providing hand sanitiser for customers on entry, taking names and phone numbers of all customers so that they can be contacted in the event of an outbreak, ensuring socially distanced seating, and table service. Implementing all this may simply make the bar unviable (although it could continue to operate as an off licence).
The club could function without a normal bar, but as the bar operation provides around 5% of the club's income, and margins are tight anyway, there would be an impact. And, of course, that's not the only income stream affected by Covid-19.
I've completed the survey btw.
