As some people may already know I am a Worcester City fan. They were my main side, with Sutton as my " other side ",for many years until circumstances caused that situation to reverse a few years ago now.Not complaining though! League side Swindon Town(since 1971)but haven't been for getting on for 40 years since I got the non league bug. One of my best friends is from Glasgow, and a keen Celtic fan,so I look for their results too Ah yes Oxford I do remember having a similar conversation with you a while ago. Nice to know you also have a soft spot for the Hoops

Having been brought up in Aylesbury they were my local side in the 1960's (including one promotion). My grandparents lived in Northampton and I was able to enjoy the amazing 'up and down' of the Cobblers in the 1960's as well. From 1960 my 'big team' has been Wolves and I used to see them a couple of times each season when a 'big trip' was made to London to see them at Chelsea and Fulham or Arsenal. After that I always tried to support the local team where I lived and so my journey has led me to 'support' Weymouth (briefly), Cambridge United (during which they gained promotion), Sutton United (1979-1990 - more promotion), Inverness Caley and Ross County in their rise from the Highland League to the Scottish Premier (one son supported Caley, the other one supported County - thankfully season tickets were inexpensive and they played at home on alternate Saturdays). Since returning 'south' in 2015 it has been Shrewsbury occasionally but mainly Telford United as I still prefer non-league football and I have been to several Wolves games - especially in this year's Europa League. I have managed to catch up with Sutton at Chester, Wrexham, Solihull, Tranmere etc and did make it to Airdrie last season. It has been a pleasure to see Mark, Dave and Tony again as we go back to the days of football in Beddington Park! I'm not planning to move again in the near future so perhaps that's my selection of teams to support coming to an end - although one of my sons now lives in Bath... Most teams I have watched have been promoted at some time during the course of my attending their games but I'm not holding my breath for Telford as the National League North is a very tough league in more ways than one. After all this - it's Sutton and Wolves that matter the most to me. That's quite an impressive spread, Ian!

Besides watching Sutton Inited who floodlights I can just see from my Dad garden, I used to catch the 93 bus from outside Cheam High to watch Fulham and once I turning arround on the riverside terrace to watch the Head of the River race as Fulhan was losing in the old forth Division. After living in Bristol for 8 years, I also have a soft spot for Brislington Town in Western league (step 5). Have to admit that is a new team for me. Bristol Manor Farm, Mangotsfield, Yate Town etc are loosely on my list to be done in that part of the world (plus Larkhall Athletic, looks like a very scenic backdrop) but hadn't tripped across Brislington. Good stuff mate, keep the faith!

Covering on all sides at county level is certainly not to be taken for granted either. Excellent, that's the rain dealt with, what's the bar like?

I first watched Sutton United at Wembley in the Amateur Cup Final versus North Shields and have supported then ever since although certainly not actually going along to see them faithfully since then. I also used to support Queens Park Rangers as my father knew one of the Directors and I was born in Greenford, then in the London Borough of Ealing. Believe it not QPR were a decent side back in the 1970's... Phil Parkes, Stan Bowles, Gerry Francis, Don Givens, Hollins, McLintock and Webb in the midfield ...I could go on ! That glorious 1975/76 season when QPR just pipped at the post by Liverpool who won Division One. Standing in the 'Loft' wearing my harrington jacket, loafers and 2 tone trousers..we were better than Chelsea back then !

Neil, I've been to Loftus Rd a couple of times. One of those was the tail end of the 92/3 season and it was one of the best games I've seen. Finished QPR 4 Forest 3, hat trick for Sir Les. That was a pretty decent QPR side as well. I don't remember the halcyon 70s side as I was born in 77 but seen a fair bit of footage. Stan Bowles, what we'd give for a few more players with that sort of skill and personality now in football.

Aston Villa. Though I grew up in Carshalton Beeches, my father got 2 tickets for the 1957 cup final. Villa won and that was me hooked. My best day as a Villa fan was the 1982 European Cup final which ended oddly in the small hours at Birmingham airport. You would think Villa would be careful with cups after their history. The current FA Cup (the real one not the copies) was presented to the FA by Villa when its predecessor was stolen from a Birminghsm shop window whilst in their care. Not so that night - the whole club party boarded the coach back to Villa Park having stowed the heavy box the European Cup travels in in the hold. The cup itself was in my arms, still inside the airport. Fortunately somebody was looking out of the rear window on the coach as I rushed outside with the pot.

Christ if that had happened recently you'd be a social media sensation with over a million hits and a TV interview thrown in mate! Villa Park is the only really major English stadium I've yet to visit. Well, in any capcacity, done WHL a few times but not the new one. I've 6 left in total. Villa, Spurs, Middlesbrough, Bolton, Fleetwood & Morecambe.

Indeed! And hats off to their scriptwriters for wringing the last drop of emotion out of the audience before the curtain falls.
Skipper Jack scores for Villa to allow bottoms to be moved further back from the edge of the sofa with a few minutes to go. Two minutes later a ricochet off Jack's knee loops over Villa's keeper, and injury time requires a position behind the sofa to be bearable. Even when that match ends - it isn't all over, Watford are still playing for a couple of minutes.

I had no horse in that particular race and even I was nervous as hell watching it. I didn't envy Villa fans at all!
