The difficulty with that being, if you restrict the number of season ticket sales below socially distanced capacity, you then run the risk of being oversubscribed on match day and having to turn people away on the day, which creates its own set of potential health/safety/public order issues... You can order/ buy tickets online, normally at a discount. It would be interesting to know how many paid on the day last season? Yes, that was my thinking when I posted, that a percentage of tickets are available for online sale only. With fans desperate to alleviate their withdrawal symptoms, they’ll be snapped up in no time!

Why not make it compulsory for everyone - including season ticket holders - to obtain advance tickets for each individual match online (possibly with a phone option for those who can't get online)? You could have a priority window say 2 weeks beforehand during which only ST holders (who have already paid to watch that match so are entitled to see it, other than cup games of course) can reserve their tickets free of charge. Then have a week where any remaining tickets are available to anyone who wants to buy one.
That way you don't get the problems of 1) oversubscribed matches because of too many season ticket holders turning up 2) people missing out because the ground is officially at capacity even though several season ticket holders haven't actually turned up (hence getting them to obtain individual tickets for each match and not making tickets available until shortly before each match - that's to stop ST holders blanket buying and then not turning up later on)
Most season ticket holders won't attend every single game in a season so it seems to make sense to ask people to declare their intention to go to each one. Yes, it would be annoying having to do all that, and it might be a lot of work for the club to set up, but it's surely better than having a crowd outside the ground or whatever. Plus, it would make it more efficient to get people through the gates, which might be quite a sticky point with social distancing in place.
If there end up being more season ticket holders than the ground's capacity I'm sure the club can work out something like special priority tickets to other matches for those who miss out, and I bet SUFCtv can help make sure everyone who's not there feels like they are!

I can't believe for one moment that we would have to reduce our capacity by that much so lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Irrespective of what our new socially distanced capacity may or may not be, compulsory advance tickets seems like the most sensible way forward, to have certainty and control over the maximum number of fans that will turn up for each match, and to avoid disappointed punters being turned away on the day.

PS. Looking at how other sports stadia in the UK and Europe have implemented current social distancing guidance, overall capacity has been reduced to around 25%. As a (very) rough guide, this would give us a cap of around 1250 fans. All subject to change of course, and the hope is that capacities will increase exponentially over the forthcoming season.
