Perhaps Bromley's problem is that they don't have any traditional local rivals so some of their fans have tried to adopt us to fill the gap.

There have been a few mentions of Carshslton Athletic on this thread. I must admit that for me the only real local derby for me could only ever be between us and the Robins. I live much closer to Colston Avenue than I do to GGL. Like many of us I guess, I get a number of local football matters popping up on my mobile phone quite regularly. A recent one was advertising a Robins' forthcoming match and it mentioned that the maximum crowd permitted would be 600 persons. I look forward to that day when we start to have crowds once more. 600 is the max allowed across the board in the isthmian prem at the moment , think 450 south and below . It was a sellout at carshalton yesterday , as I think Worthing was.

So the bobbins had the (joint) highest attendance in the country on a normal Saturday? Who could have predicted that this time last year

For unfortunate reasons, no one could.

I walked past the local Rec Ground (which gives a pedestrian short cut to the Robins' entrance) at about 2.25pm.yesterday. It was very noticeable how many people were walking across to the ground. A lot of teenagers especially. I had got off the train from Sutton and a group of five older gentlemen were just ahead of me . They disappeared up Colston Avenue. It was noticeable that none of these people wore either Carshalton football scarves or any other football teams' either.

They may well be displaced supporters of clubs at level 2 and above who, like myself and tonyd (I think.Aplologies Tony if I speak out of turn)would rather watch a game live rather than a stream, whether their club features or not. Some people might not get it, which I do understand, but that's the way it is for me anyway

At the moment I'm OK with the streaming as, you know, it's US! But as the season goes on I may attend a Bobbins match or two, instead. Simply for the proper, non-league, match day experience. That's a very big part of what I get from this.

I'm curious....are there some U’s fans that will ONLY watch Sutton play? Like others on here, I get my fix by watching various local teams. I’ve seen eight games so far this season, the last one being Billingshurst v Jersey Bulls in the Vase. From the moment Jersey Bulls joined the pyramid I’d been wanting to scratch that itch and watch them play and I'd have to say, they are pretty useful.
If I were to just limit myself to the occasional streamed Sutton match, I think I’d be climbing the walls by now!

If I were to just limit myself to the occasional streamed Sutton match, I think I’d be climbing the walls by now! I'm one of those. I'm a Sutton fan, and have no second/third/fourth team. I'd go to every Sutton game I can, home and away. I couldn't stomach going to a game against 2 clubs I have not much interest in when I know Sutton are playing. Hence why you'd never see me at an SCR game unless Sutton were playing them. For me, if it was a choice between seeing a Sutton stream live or going to another game, the former would always win. I know we're all different and we're all dealing with this current situation in different way, but I think going to another football game would probably upset me more that I can't do the same for my beloved Sutton. I'll be getting my fix on Tuesday night, and then doing something totally unrelated to to football as we seem to have the afternoon off thanks to Macclesfield.

I have a link to and fondness for Spurs having been born in Tottenham and having some family connections to the club. But I've only seen them play a handful of times. Other than that it's all Sutton. That is where I grew up and it's my club from my late childhood onwards. I once went to see Bobbins play at a Xmas period game (couldn't get to wherever Sutton were playing for some reason). It was OK. Not convinced, though. The issue for me, at the risk of labouring my point, is that the physical experience of Non League football, the sheer Non Leagueness of it, is really important to me. I'm a classic 'meat pie on an open terrace as the night is drawing in' man. It's part of my way of not living too much of my life via a computer screen. Which, of couse, is currently turned on its head. Difficult.

I've been to a fair few games that didn't involve Sutton, but not this season. I miss my Sutton family and all the things that make GGL feel like home so much that watching football somewhere else (or even someone else at GGL) would feel jarringly wrong and would make me miss you idiots even more
