The draw for the first round was today. We’ve been drawn at home to Sutton Common Rovers.
How is that going to work? Do the rules on elite clubs hosting spectators apply? Since the Venn diagram of SCR fans who are also SUFC fans is pretty much a single circle, how will they allow only SCR fans in?

Seriously, what is even the point? I thought they decided not to have one this year.

If SCR were drawn as the home team would fans be allowed in??? I got this reply from the Surrey FA on Twitter So I’m guessing no. But how can they tell, no offence to SCR, but the majority of their supporters are also SUFC supporters.

Surely some common sense must prevail, name SCR as the home team, if the Surrey FA kick up a fuss then tell them to kick us out. Will almost certainly save the club money not having to play the fixture in an empty ground.

Highly unlikely that a County FA will go against the Senior authority as they will get slaughtered and individual's jobs would be at risk as someone would have to take responsibility.
The laughable thing is that we will probably put out a predominantly Academy team which can be watched
However, there is one sound argument for allowing spectators and that is of the FA's making.
They do not recognise County Cup ties as first team competition for National League sides. Therefore, if our Suburban team can be watched by spectators so should this tie.

This probably won’t generate too much interest but a couple of ties were played in the SSC this week with Dorking Wanderers winning at Horley Town and Leatherhead surprisingly losing 3-2 at home to Redhill.
The Surrey FA website have our tie with SCR down for the 16th December.

For what it's worth, the 2nd Round of the Surrey Senior Cup has been drawn. With many clubs not even having played their Preliminary Round matches, the resulting draw is almost as big a mess as Boris Johnson's pandemic strategy!
Merstham or Chertsey Town v Knaphill Sutton Utd or Sutton Common Rovers v [Walton Casuals or Abbey Rangers] or Westfield [Tooting & Mitcham Utd or Egham Town] or Badshot Lea v Dorking Wanderers Ashford Town (Middlesex) v Colliers Wood Utd or Corinthian Casuals AFC Wimbledon or [Camberley Town or Virginia Water] v Chipstead or Whyteleafe [Molesey or Metropolitan Police] or Banstead Athletic v Raynes Park Vale or Woking Redhill v [South Park or Kingstonian] or AFC Croydon Athletic Carshalton Athletic or Spelthorne Sports v Sheerwater or Lingfield
As all non-elite football in Tier 4 has been suspended, I'm expecting the whole competition to be scrapped in the new year.

I can't believe that this competition hasn't been scrapped for this season. I'm no Rachel Riley but I'd assume 95% of those sides are classed as 'non elite'.
Quire bizarre that you would even quote Sutton as elite in some respects.
