So that's us out of the Cup at the first hurdle, thanks to a first-half penalty. I thought we badly missed Craig Eastmond today. Poor game overall, in blustery conditions, with both sides wasteful in front of goal and some truly dreadful free kicks. The main point of interest was the stoppage-time scrap that triggered a flurry of cards including a red for the Bromley skipper.

Cannot fault defence as restricted Bromley to two shots on target if you include the penalty. We had the possession but no cutting edge. Sho silva missed a sitter that would have changed the game. Difficult in the wind but too many crosses over hit.

Not much in it. Thought Bromley were professional and their movement was good first half particularly. I think both sides did ok in the conditions tbh. Game of few chances. Soft pen won it. We had a couple of moments 2nd half which on another day could have got us to penalties. Overall we’re shaping up well, can’t complain too much at being edged out today.

First half was so pore, to many balls going no where. Second half was a lot better with more atacking threat but still no goals to show four it. It is worring the lack of goals! We get the ball in the box but there is most often no one there and ones bromley got the goal they just sat in and saw the game out. At the other end we are ok but ones the opposition score we are in troble, Oh well on wards and up wards..

Anyone who says about "the new normal". It doesn't matter what craziness is happening in the real world we will always lose to Bromley in the FA Cup by single goal.

Apart from 1 season at Bromley Tobi Sho-Silva is not a prolific goal scorer . Last season 5 goals in 35 appearances for Halifax. So are we relying on our wingers or Harry for goals ?

It happens every 8 years, like clockwork. 1996, 2004, 2012, 2020. Maybe it's a curse someone put on us after the 1988-89 season, which was rather more successful

Its a bit like Dos in a playoff match he could play the Barcelona team and still lose.

Sadly,we haven't been an attacking force for a while now. Last season Harry's goals from midfield glossed over our lack of real fire power up front. Such a shame that Tommy was injured and then decided to leave. So far this season we've scored just over a goal a game and our top goalscorer is own goals.

Is it because the Collingwood quarter is the lowest part of the pitch and running the ball down into that slight depression is awkward? That is, I assume that quarter is the lowest part of the pitch. It looks that way to me. I think someone (or more than one person) had worked out the degree of dip, or slope, to the pitch overall. That was a few years back. The slope from corner to corner at both ends is 2 feet, the maximum allowed on a 3G pitch and probably required for drainage. The lengthways slope I can't remember for certain but I think that is 2 feet also. The grass pitch had a steeper slope sideways but to a gulley about 8 yards from the Rec touchline, between the gulley and the touchline the slope was level or rising. Sure the slope has an affect on the players willingness to pass into that quarter, but it has been conquered before, especially in the promotion year from conference South. It needs to be overcome again.

But what about Stephen Hawking's theory where every desicion in life creates an alternative reality? Which in effect means that life actually means something as in everyone gets a fair crack of the whip. You can't choose who you are, but yet what are we, but the sum of our choices? Back to the game I bet Sho-Silva wishes that he'd have chosen to bury that sitter. Life goes on, much like an (almost) unchanged 157 bus.
