Shame we didn’t hold on. Not for the first time at home this season just simply failing to clear our lines has cost us. Overall Altrincham will feel they deserved to take something back with them, though to an extent their ascendency in the 2nd half will be dictated by the fact we’re happy sitting in with the lead. Another reasonable opposition who will do ok. We’ll be better for getting a match under our belts after a long break.

Alty's at-the-death equaliser was a great strike, but we should really have got the ball clear in the moments before. That said, they'd looked the more likely side to score in the second half, after we'd had the better of the first.
That month-long lay-off has given us games in hand, and we're still third.

Shame we couldn’t hang on but it was one way traffic in the second half. Altrincham deserved a point.

Yes a bit frustrating, but still have games in hand. As for the substitutions it's what the manager dose to give the players a run out. We simply did not get that third goal and paid for it. So we just have too move on.

I cannot understand the tactic that Sutton U have, every time the opposition get a corner or free kick we pull everyone back and invite them to camp in our penalty area, When we get ball we have no up field, so the ball comes straight back. As the second half progressed you just felt that Alti would get the equaliser and so they did, all be it the last kick of the game.

I wasn’t blaming the substitutions. I was suggesting, obviously too subtly, that the subs explained the extra time added in the second half. 🙄

We looked a little off the pace in midfield which allowed a very good Alti team to take the game to us. You could see the equaliser coming and probably a fair result. After a long lay off we needed that game.

A really good game of football. My annoyance with the last minute concession having abated, I would have to agree Altringham deserved the draw. They were aided slightly by a ref who found every clash in the second half to be a Sutton foul, but principally by some panicky and therefore ineffective play by U's when running the clock down in injury time. Matt doubtless will be having words with those responsible on the pitch, but he might reflect that after taking Omar off we could not hold the ball up when we got it out of our area and upfield.
Kenny Davis makes a real difference to the quality of Sutton's approach play. It was fortunate that he did today because Harry had one of those days when beating one opponent and passing to a colleague seemed really difficult.
Sod's Law of football states that incredible last-gasp goals are only scored against your team - never for them. Nothing else he could do in the time remaining but hit it from thirty yards and hope it went in the top left corner of the goal.

Is it a form of Karma or perhaps the way fate/mother nature balances things in the universe...last season we score the goal of the season and this year we might just have conceded it?

That goal was on 93.57 with 4 mins added so last gasp is definitely true, really in truth 3 opportunities to clear were missed in the build up to a really good strike. I have to say a deserved leveler as they had applied much of the pressure in that 2nd half. I thought we looked good to kick on in that 2nd half but either not playing in nearly a month or the oppos upping their game we didn't really get going after the break.
Had a look at that 1st goal a few times but even biased me can't really find anything wrong on Bugel to get the goal chalked off.
One thing I would say is a scoreboard brightly lit above the players heads saying 90.00+ might have helped the venom in those 3 weak clearances at the end - psychology can play a big role in a football match?

Not played since 16th Dec, and 10 days within that where we couldn't train together, I'd take a 2 2 against a decent side.

At full-time yesterday and being so close to gaining three points I was a little reactionary but a day on I think it's a decent point on the board for us. Having had such a lay-off over Christmas and New Year and a real lack of training time as Andy K mentions this probably showed in the second half where we looked a bit tired.
A couple of real smart goals from us during the first half, both from Randall assists - Ajiboye notching a rare header and Olaofe adding another to his growing tally before we all found out his loan had been extended for the rest of the season which is superb news!
On we go to the Trophy!
