AA: Hope you’re well. Again I go to my point regarding committees - anyone can see the fixtures piling on top 🔝 (May 29th final day of season) so why don’t they say the season is extending and will finish June 30th and we start 2021/22 on September 01st. Instead you’ll get 3/4 games a week for 2/3 weeks and that’s not fair on the players. ‘Oh he didn’t show up today’ ‘Oh he looked lazy tonight’ ‘Oh he hasn’t been at it for 2 weeks’ Of course he hasn’t he’s played 35 games already and now he is being asked to perform 2/3/4 times a week after the best part of 9/10 months. I was looking back at the '85-86 season recently when we beat Yeovil to the Isthmian League title. We played 59 competitive matches, most of February was lost to the weather, and we finished with 23 games in 9 weeks. The last 10 games were Thurs, Sat, Tues, Thurs, Sat, Mon, Tues, Thurs, Sat, Mon (W8 L2). We also won the Surrey Senior and League Cups. "And you tell that to the kids today and they don't believe you!"

STEVIEM:
I’m smiling at that - it’s like boxers they used to fight 6/8 times a year now they fight twice a year.

At the moment there are 9 games due to be played tonight. The ones to look for include Hartlepool v Solihull, Torquay v Wealdstone and Altrincham v Wrexham. Stockport don't play so we could go as low as 4th tonight if we fail to win, and if Woking beat us 3-0, Stockport could go above us without playing. Woking's league form hasn't been great - they've not won in the league in nearly 2 months but then they beat Hartlepool 3-0. Hopefully we can put Saturday behind us in emphatic style. I presume the two players who went off on Saturday won't be fit, which of course includes our leading scorer, but as we know we have other players who can put the ball in the onion bag! Nott's County beat D&R 3 - 1 which maybe isn't that surprising, but did so having their goalkeeper sent off in the 18th minute with no replacement on the bench.

Brings to mind the end of the 1998-99 season when we won the league on a Thursday night because the game had been postponed from the Tuesday and there was no other way of fitting it in. Maybe postponements aren't that bad for us after all

I see Torquay dropped points tonight, if the league ends now do we get promoted Reckon the boys needed a rest after those 4 matches and travelling, I didn't realize Sutton had that much snow ?

We could be having another rest next Tuesday when we are scheduled to play Dover at home ! Alternatively bring another game forward.

Based on last season's rules, Torquay would be champions with 2 points per game, and we would have home advantage in the play-offs with 1.89 points per game?

Torquay have to travel to a well rested Woking side this Saturday weather permitting, that won't be easy on what will be a heavy pitch if it thaws.

For those who are not sure about what Del means, it's the Dover chairman closing ranks and threatening to furlough all his staff and cease all operations. fanbanter.co.uk/chairman-of-national-league-club-prepared-to-cease-football-operations-within-days/Not wanting to make a prediction here - it could be anything from toys out of the pram to resigning from the league mid season, but one thing I have read into this are the financial worries that Dover have. It's been obvious since the start of the season, and the subtext here is that they badly need investment. I'm not sure if these money worries were caused by the pandemic or accelerated by them, but my gut feeling is more the former than the latter.
