I think the only reason Dover have not been slung out is because there is no promotion or relegation between step 1 and 2, and they don't want to play with 22 teams next season. If the N/S voted to carry on, I think Dover would find themselves not at this level.
I think they've got away with murder to be honest. But at least it's clearer for everyone else.
In addition, Gary Johnson target of being 3 points clear by the time we play them means that they will have to win all 4 games and we would have to lose all 3. They now sit 9 points behind us, with the same number of games to play. By the time we play them we will have a game in hand.

Surely it makes more sense to have it as 22 rather than a side missing a Sat every week? Especially with NS having 21 teams?

From a NL point of view not especially in terms of their relationship with the EFL. They will protect that relationship (and the appropriate 2 up that goes with it). Even having 22 teams rather than 24 to them sees the integrity of the league damaged.

Surely a better option would be to get rid of bend Over and then have a mini competition between the teams that finished in the top few sides of the North and South leagues. Promote the required two and Bob is your mother's brother.
Unsure if the null and void North and South season's would make this suggestion obselete but as AndyK has said Dover have got away with murder.
They've made the National League fall for them hook, line and sinker. Throw in a copy of the Angling Times and you have the biggest blag since..... well I don't know when.

No way they'd agree to that, not least because there was no such thing as the top few sides. They'd played nowhere near enough games for a decision like that to have any sort of fairness or integrity to it and there would be uproar from those who just missed out.

Oh yes I agree no one would agree with it. But the whole Dover thing smacks of complete unfairness. Will clubs who have travelled down to Dover be reimbursed financially for the cost of the trip? I doubt it.
The only other way to get the National League back up to 24 teams next season is to reinstate Bury or Macclesfield. And what a furore that would cause!
Maybe next season we will have to accept a 23 team league and have some sort of solution for the 2022-23 season.

Would have been nice if rather than fining them what looks like an arbitrary sum, the league had instead made them reimburse those clubs their travel costs and then presumably a bit on top of that to the league for admin etc.

I thought I might keep this up although it's not so useful now. It is now just assuming that each team with games in hand draws those games. Just 10 games to go!
Sutton United 32 51 26 64 Hartlepool 32 41 28 57 Torquay 32 48 30 54 Notts County 32 36 22 52 Stockport 32 41 25 51 Wrexham 32 40 28 50 Chesterfield 32 40 28 49 FC Halifax 32 45 35 47 Eastleigh 32 35 30 46 Maidenhead 32 40 36 46
Looking forward to seeing AndyK's table and associated comments - who now has too much to do!

Certainly prefer looking at the real league table given a point a game gets us nowhere near the title!

For Kev and anyone else who is interested!
Sutton - 13 games left (39), Current points 61, max points available 100, PPG to reach 85 - 1.85 Hartlepool - 10 games left (30), current points 57, max points available 87 - PPG 2.8 Torquay - 13 games left (39), current points 51, max points available 90 - PPG 2.61 Stockport - 13 game left (39), current point 48, max points available 87 - PPG 2.85 Wrexham - 13 games left (39), current points 47, max points available 86 - PPG 2.92 Notts County - 16 games left (48), current points 46, max points available 93 - 2.38 Chesterfield - 14 games left (42), current points 45, max points available 87 - 2.85 Halifax - 13 games left (39), current points 44, max points available 83 Eastleigh - 13 games left (39), current points 43, max points available 82 Bromley - 13 games left (39), current points 41, max points available 80 Altrincham - 10 games left (30), current points 41, max points available 71 Borehamwood - 13 games left (39), current points 39, max points available 78 Maidenhead - 16 games left (48), current points 39, max points available 87 - PPG 2.88
Still taking 85 points as enough to win the title that leaves Sutton, Notts County, Torquay, Hartlepool, Stockport, Chesterfield, Maidenhead and Wrexham as being mathematically possible to reach that figure. All but the first 3 of those will need to win all their remaining games to reach it.
Just for a bit more fun, I looked at how far at the bottom of the table do we have to go down to see who can't mathematically catch us. Only Barnet at the moment, but others will start getting ticked off very soon
Barnet - Max 58 points Kings Lynn - 66 points Weymouth - 66 points

Getting more exciting. I can't help but worry that somebody is going to steal the T-bird.

We've surely reached the point where this is no longer "just for fun". We're now contemplating a probability, not just a possibility, that little old SUFC will be competing in the Football League next season. 😲
It would take quite a startling collapse in form by us, or a spectacular burst of form by a club below us, for the NL title to go elsewhere. Neither should be discounted of course, and we take nothing for granted, but there's scant evidence of either happening. I'm increasingly confident that Matt and the players have the right focus to see this season through to a glorious conclusion.
So get ready folks. When we're allowed back into grounds, the chances are that we won't just be picking up where we left off pre-pandemic. The experience of supporting our club is set to become rather different.
