A curious feature of the opening day in the National League (yesterday) was that there were no home wins.
Notts County put down a marker with a 5-0 win at Barnet, who may have lost the stability they briefly regained at the end of last season. Fancied side Stockport lost 3-1 at home to D&R, and Torquay may be suffering from a play-off defeat hangover as they lost by the same score to Altrincham. Star-spangled Wrexham drew 2-2 at Solihull. Some pundits are tipping Chesterfield, who won 2-0 at Aldershot. Relegated Southend won 1-0 at King's Lynn. Bromley v Grimsby was postponed because of a positive Covid test in the Grimsby camp.
It promises to be an interesting season in our old division and I intend to keep a close eye on it!

Looks like Barnet had a lot of problems leading up to Saturday’s game with Notts

Relying largely on volunteers does sometimes have advantages!

I've taken the sticky off this, because of course, we're no longer National League!

More craziness in the National League yesterday, with 50 goals scored across the eleven matches. Three games ended 4-3 (two of those to the away side), there was a 3-3 and two 3-2s. Only two games produced fewer than four goals.
Torquay were 4-0 up at Maidenhead at half-time but ended up scraping a win 4-3. Weymouth won by the same score at Solihull, as did Grimsby at home to struggling Barnet.
D&R are top on goal difference after a 2-2 home draw with Wealdstone. Chesterfield and Boreham Wood also have ten points from their first four matches.

Harry Kyprianou who played a few pre-season games for us has joined Oxford City.

I'm guessing a lot of people have hopes for Havant to get promoted, especially as they now haven't got that many of our ex-players and the mass exodus didn't affect us - quite the contrary in fact.
