What other sports are you thinking of, boomboom? Hi Trev - Motor sports (OK a bit tongue in cheek that one) - Cycling (certainly covers more ground and I'd suggest requiring more physical effort than football.....especially in a three-week grand tour with only two rest days) - 3+ sets tennis match....football has no equivalent of lengthy, exhausting rallies - a round of golf isn't dissimilar to football (it's not just the length of a course which is only as the crow flies, and walking from flag to next tee needs to be added on)....and four consecutive days for some tournaments Don't know about hockey, Aussie Rules, Hurling and Gaelic football but would imagine they're not dissimilar to football? Some interesting examples there, boomboom. I have no idea how much ground tennis players would cover in a lengthy five set tie break, but I'm going to try and find out now... Returning to the subject of fitness in football, I don't know if anyone watched the Soccer Aid match last night, but the legendary Cafu's skill and agility at age 52 was a joy to behold.

I think it's been mentioned but I can't find it. When will the fixtures be released?

Surely that's illegal. Anyway I just wouldn't bother buying one.

Unethical sure, but don't see how it could be illegal to offer an exclusive buy to any customer who buys X product.

After having read several different sporting sources, it appears that tennis players run anything from between 1.5 to 4 miles per match depending on the number of sets played, tie breaks etc. Still nowhere near the 6-7 miles that footballers run on average during a typical match.

Many many years ago, when I studied Sports Science, the fittest endurance sportsmen were the Cross Country Skiers.

But tennis players are prepared to work - sorry play - every couple of days just like footballers used to over Easter playing Friday, Saturday and Monday.
