It was Mansfield that came through tonight but i can't help feeling it should have been Sutton. Neither Mansfield or Northampton were anything special.

Another shocking refereeing display at Sixfields this evening. Mansfield lucky not to have got two red cards. As a result Northampton got away with a later possible red.
The only goal had an element of offside about it.
Ref was the guy we had at Barrow.
Northampton were disappointing

And it took penalties to separate Swindon and Port Vale.
We're visiting Wiltshire next season for sure.

Not strictly League 2 anymore but Rob Edwards has left Forest Green and it looks like he could be on his way to be Watfordβs latest manager. Forest Green have appointed Notts County manager Ian Burchnall as successor to Edwards.

Do you remember that Crypto company that were sniffing around mid last season looking for a L2 team to buy. I heard a rumour they were sniffing around us, and went public about "buying Bradford City". Those of you who don't know about cryptocurrency, it's pretty dodgy stuff (basically being a type of ponzi scheme) and just on the side of legal, so any club with morals or community values wouldn't let them near with a bargepole. Hence why Bradford sent them packing with a flea in their ear. Of course however, not every club in this division has that, and the club they have bought won't surprise anyone. www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jun/09/web3-in-league-two-crawley-town-and-the-crypto-bros

The beginning of the end. Soon they'll have players going off, being replaced and then coming back on. Only the biggest clubs will benefit.

I appreciate the need for a rule change. In the modern game, footballers are expected to cover more ground than ever, faster than ever. I remember reading the average footballer runs around 6-7 miles per match, the most ground covered by any sportsperson in a non-running based sport. And that's just an average. In a recent match for Liverpool, James Milner covered over eight miles. The potential for injuries has therefore increased exponentially. I've lost count of the number of times his season I've seen a player soldiering on with an obvious problem, or falling to the ground with cramp. Any rule change which improves the welfare of players, reduces their risk of injury and lengthens their playing careers is a good thing in my book.

On the other hand: - players are fitter than ever before and the scientific approach has never been greater with the arrival of data analysis and sports therapists etc. - players might push themselves more during matches, thereby increasing the risk of injury, safe in the knowledge that they can be replaced by a substitute I can think of several non-running sports where more ground is covered.

What other sports are you thinking of, boomboom? Hi Trev - Motor sports (OK a bit tongue in cheek that one) - Cycling (certainly covers more ground and I'd suggest requiring more physical effort than football.....especially in a three-week grand tour with only two rest days) - 3+ sets tennis match....football has no equivalent of lengthy, exhausting rallies - a round of golf isn't dissimilar to football (it's not just the length of a course which is only as the crow flies, and walking from flag to next tee needs to be added on)....and four consecutive days for some tournaments Don't know about hockey, Aussie Rules, Hurling and Gaelic football but would imagine they're not dissimilar to football?
