U's were much too good in technique and speed of thought for BHA academy. My feed broke with about 4 mins left when it was 0-6. Lovelytraining ground though. More objective tests to follow - this was a stroll in the sun.

I'm trying to work out if we were unplayable or Brighton were awful. I think it was probably a combination of both. Whilst a nice little runaround, I don't think such a one sided game has done especially much to help our pre season preparation. Saying that however, as on Tuesday, the teamwork ethos that got us the title last season is has been on full display here, and the new signings have fitted straight into that. It does look like some superb work has already been done on the training ground.

Pretty much the same squad from Tuesday night though there was a first appearance in this pre-season for Joe Kizzi who played at right-back in the first half.

More objective tests to follow - this was a stroll in the sun. You’d imagine the next 3 pre-season games (Aldershot, Dartford and Barnet) will provide much greater challenges.

Needed minutes under the belt. We have a strong squad together, we'll surprise a few. That said this was no game to judge us on given the make up of their side. Literally seasoned men against kids learning the game. Most of them end up playing lower than Sutton and haven't yet got any senior experience. The odd 1 or 2 will end up higher but unlikely to be many of them. Their good ones would have learned a lot and will be better for the experience. Therefore both sides come away happy.

I would tend to agree that while technically you won't learn much from thrashing another team off the park, it could be very valuable in terms of morale and momentum going into the season proper.

Yes, it still counts as a Premiership scalp, right? Well I'm counting it as such, anyway!

For those that can't tear themselves away from the live stream of the pitch works we are also hoping that we will have a Mixlr commentary running on the game from just before kick off. mixlr.com/sufctv. Could we have mixlr commentary of the ground improvements?

This particular post stands out as a front runner for 2021's Healthiest Sense of Perspective Award... "I'm not prone to hyperbole or overreacting but, based on what I've just watched, we should close the performance centre and sack the board."

It’s the Sussex vernacular of Alistair Smith.
