Don't anyone let Micky Joyce drive you to the ground. You'll never get there.

For the record, 3-1 to Dartford. Their first goal was a penalty, followed by two impressive finishes. But we were without both John and Goodliffe in defence. Our goal was from Kylian Kouassi, capping a bustling and energetic performance from the academy graduate.

Any ideas who the sole trialist was last night?

Millwall drew 1-1 last night in a preseason friendly with Gillingham. Tanto did not feature - which either means he is still injured, not under consideration for the first Xl or both. As he hasn't really had an opportunity to impress the Millwall manager during pre-season because of his injury, I would think that this may increase the likelihood of him being allowed to go out on loan - albeit, perhaps not for the whole season and/or with Millwall maintaining an option to be able to recall him. I still think that he offers something quite different to our other forward options.

I would imagine that Matt would want to use the Barnet game on Saturday to pick as close to the team that will start against Forrest Green as fitness and other considerations will allow. I would anticipate that team being primarily the tried and tested from last season - although I think that both Smith and Boldewijn may start.

Start of the season fast approaching Do you really wonder that? This is Matt Gray, the man who led us to winning the National League title. I think that question doesn't need answering.

In fairness to localboy86, some of our more recent acquisitions haven't had much time to demonstrate their full potential. I suspect this is a question that can only be fully answered once the season unfolds.

I suspect this is a question that can only be fully answered once the season unfolds. That may be true of us supporters who have only seen a few friendly matches, but I would expect that Matt, who had been working with the players for several weeks, has a pretty good idea of his first XI!

Did Gareth Southgate know his first XI during Euro 2020? Largely dependent on the opposition, I would suggest.
