On Saturday the team venture up north for our first ever encounter with Rochdale. Rochdale was at the heart of the Industrial revolution where it was famous for textile production. It still seems quite awesome that we are playing a league fixture there in October .Sadly can't make this one but anyone travelling by public transport should note there is a bus/tram replacement service between Manchester & Rochdale.
Our away form has been very good of late and it will be interesting to see how the team responds to Tuesday's reverse. Hopefully either Craig or Kenny will be fit enough to replace Harry or John Barden will fill the slot.

What are your predictions/expectations Del? Since you ask 12-2 to Rochdale ! We are only a pub team from Surrey.

Rochdale's home record is not great. 1 win in 6 attempts, not scoring more than 1 goal at home in the league all season (and a total of 3 league goals in those 6 games).
That win did come against Tranmere, a 1-0, but as Tranmere are still one of the lowest scorers in the division, and having the best defence, it wasn't going to be any other scoreline.
They've not won in 6, and during that run 4 of the 6 opponents are all currently in the bottom half, including a draw at struggling Mansfield and a defeat at home to Oldham (although we know what that feels like).
This is the sort of opponent we need to get points off to sustain a challenge in the top half (and the same against Colchester on Tuesday, who are in a similar sort of position)

Looking forward to this one.
It's been 17 years since I was last in Rochdale, so I won't actually recommend any pub. But a 'must visit' for me is the Baum (35 Toad Lane OL12 0NU), a former CAMRA national Pub of the Year. A great choice of beers is promised, with food also available. It's in the 'heritage' area, on the edge of the town centre closest to Spotland.

Just a 30 minute journey for me, so looking forward to it. Been told by my Rochdale supporting work colleague that the chippy by the ground is well worth a visit. A chippy tea and 3 points would do very nicely.

Would be surprised if Kenny starts even if fit, he’s not played for a long time (has he been seen since August?). If Eastmond not fit I think probably Barden plays. Lovatt (I think he’s with us currently) and Milsom (if fit) other options.
Fingers crossed we can come away with a point or 3. First long one in a while. Safe trip and enjoy to those heading up.

I think that when the boys come out onto the pitch in their black kit they really look the business and I always have the feeling that they won’t let the side down. And it’s much better than the washed out green, just leave that colour to DeanO 👍

Been watching from afar with great pleasure at results and general atmosphere around the club. Hopefully over in Nov for a game or two to tap into the vibes.
I went to see Rochdale once, 13 or 14 years ago, after a New Year up in the Lake District with friends where most of the group got a heavy dose of Norovirus. We were meant to go to Morecambe but the pitch was frozen, then my mate Dan went down ill, so I had to drop him off at his mum's in Manchester. We had 3 "misery stops" along the way, including on the M6 when he stuck his head out of the window and his glasses blew off. After Spotland, I drove to stay at a mate's in Liverpool where my then girlfriend succumbed, leading to a particularly miserable drive back down south. I managed to avoid getting ill, chiefly thanks to heavy consumption of Old Rosie (not when driving).
So, fond memories. No idea what the result of the match was, nor who was the oppo.
Fingers crossed today's trip is memorable for travelling Us fans for the right reasons!

I know I’m a sad old b****r🙇♂️

Despite the result, pulling back to level from 2-0 down with only 10 men showed immense heart. Very proud of the boys for that. Stands us in good stead.

Not the best of days, another captain injured and a suspension for Bennett. Discipline has been one of the huge positives of Matt Gray’s time in charge, a red card is so so rare. Thought we had burgled a point but sadly the last kick does for us. Oh well.
Hope to add to the points tally Tuesday. Squad starting to be tested. If Eastmond can be back Tuesday would be a big boost. Looks like Omar will come back to start, he should offer some fresh legs. Presume Olaofe may be ready to partner him too after being sub today.

This might be a long story it might be short - when I work on Saturday’s for the first time I can hear OUR (SU) progress live with the commentator updating the latest scores around the country.
I have found my mood swings up and down depending on our fortunes.
And so to today - 1-0, BENNETT sent off, 2-0 and I was in the bin 🗑 like top 🔝 cat …..
But oh now we fight back 2-2 and I am jumping up and down while watching Southampton 2 v 2 Burnley and supporters of Southampton (I am next to the posh seats @st Mary’s) looking at me like I need help!
And then I head down to pitch side for post match interviews check my phone 📞 and my heart sinks and roars at the same time.
SUTTON UNITED - what a team we have.
Brilliant defiance even in defeat.
Walk on walk on with love in your hearts.
👋🎈⚽️
