Only five Boxing Day fixtures in League Two are still standing. Our game at Bristol Rovers is of course one of the casualties, having been called off by Rovers. Other clubs unable to field teams on the 26th are Colchester and Exeter, our next two scheduled opponents.🙁
Exeter have also pulled out of their game on the 29th. As things stand our home match v Colchester on that date goes ahead, but it wouldn't be a surprise if that falls as well. I'm a bit more hopeful for Exeter at home on New Year's Day.

I have an awful feeling Boris will announce on the 27th Dec that spectators will be barred from entry to games with immediate effect, and games will be back to being played behind closed doors. Hope I am wrong, of course, but the number of Boxing Day games already cancelled is ominous.

I think the problem is more that the rapid spread of this variant and the requirement to isolate after exposure will keep bumping teams out of being able to play matches, and that could go on for some while.
Not saying that a spectator ban can't happen but, politically, that sort of move would be quite problematic for Johnson. It's a little more complex this time around.

Port Vale v Salford has also now gone from the Boxing Day programme, leaving just four League Two fixtures.
I was planning to go to AFC Wimbledon v Charlton in League One, but that was called off today.
It's almost as if Omicron itself is pre-empting the decisions that government or the football authorities would have to make.

Three matches left now, of which just one affects us. If Barrow can snatch a draw at Tranmere then we won't loose our third place.

Anybody go to this? It finished 8-0 to Dorking W. 😯 Yes I did. Absolutely woeful defending by H&W who were 2-0 down and down to 10 men within the first 5 minutes. Dos was sitting a couple of rows behind me but I didn’t think he was in the right frame of mind for a chat! I did have an opportunity to talk at half time to Bobby Childs who was also at the game. On the pitch were Tommy Wright and Jamie Collins (as a sub after the defender was sent off) for the Hawks, and Josh Taylor for Wanderers, who also had Jason Cheadle, recently signed from the Bobbins. The match programme confirmed that ex U Callum Keely had been released.

I went to West Ham v Blackburn and Chelsea v Blackpool. I was 15 and playing football myself most Saturdays so didn't have the time or money to go to Div 1 games. But holiday matches were different and my Xmas box tips from my paper round covered the fares and entrance. After the Boxing day results I was expecting double figures at Stamford Bridge - 1-0 was a real disappointment.

Only two games left standing tonight. If Swindon win by more than one goal then we would drop to fifth.
