Just watched the highlights. Seems the Swindon fans are a touch biased. Kizzi ran from behind his man so was onside. Others were off but weren't interfering with play. McKirdy (who I thought was excellent) was offside but they shouldn't have had the free kick in the first place as Omar was blatantly fouled before he fouled their player.
As for the pen that was rather blatant. Not sure how that could be missed.

Another hard game. With all the injuries we have .To put out a team last night was great. And to show another good shift. As Matt said in his post match interview it looks like we could be light on the ground Saturday with hopefully 4 or 5 back. The game itself was Another 12 v 11 as again the ref was so biased to Swindon. Definitely a penalty turned down.( were do they find these officials) As been said by previous posts and Matt their goals were bad errors. And should have been sorted!!! Their first was like the gaol scored down at Bristol. Question. WHY do goalies have to rush out of their area? As seen last night. And why was there no defender back to stop a long ball as last night. A well taken goal by kizzi. And congrats to Lovett on his debut ( I think iam right) Let's hope that there were no more injuries. Saying that I saw Ben with a ice pack after he was subbed. On to Saturday, and we can get at least a point in view of the injury list.

We were looking at the footage of the McKirdy goal in the press box last night and we thought that while he was ahead of the defenders it was questionable whether he was ahead of the ball when it was played. It was certainly very close one way or the other.

What a fantastic effort by those in the squad left standing after arguably the longest list of injured players the club has ever witnessed. I feared the worst, especially as the midfield contained a young player who has not been with the team this season let alone actually play and Omar B. Both were phehomenal in their endeavours and Adam L had our best effort at goal in the second half.
This was a fractious match not helped by yet another member of Mike Riley's ever growing list of incompetence he calls a referees panel. McKirdy and Williams are both fine players, possibly too good for this level but with that comes an appalling attitude on the pitch where any challenge on them is (for them) a foul. The Sutton fans took great delight in particular when Joe K left Williams on the deck after a strong but fair challenge. It was actually one he didn't moan about!
As for the goals. There first was a bit of a disaster as their no 9, laughingly given MotM (see McKirdy and Williams above as the real contenders) was gifted the opener. U's fought back well though and Joe K continued his remarkable scoring run of late with a fine header. There may have been other players offside but he wasn't and under the current laws that 's what counts. Perhaps Garner and half of The County Ground should take note.
Their second came from a f-K for a foul by Omar B that was an identical challenge to the one that the ref ignored on Omar seconds earlier. It was also offside as the ball was played forward and McKirdy had just crept in front of the passer Williams and the U's last defender.
As for the late non-pen and subsequent red card, if there was any contact it looked minimal and not enough for their fella to go down like he did and that may have influenced the ref. But as I stated above, he was so terrible, who knows?
Robbed of a point, the lads, missing ten from the squad, richly deserved for dogged defensive work and tremendous hard work off and on the ball. Midfield two excellent, back four immense, 'keeper, despite the hesitancy on the first goal, made some great saves especially the one in the last minute. I thought Will R's carry of the ball was direct and exceptional and Enzio frightened them with his exceptional skill and pace. At the end we had two 40+ year olds an 18 yo and a EFL debut maker. I am as proud of the lads last night as I was after Wigan.
Another poor performance from the ref and it would appear the senior line. People pay good money to watch these matches; players work hard to get to this level and they are rewarded week in week out with Mike Riley's panel. It's a panel that needs blowing down in the wind (wouldn't need to be a strong gust) and totally replaced. Utter garbage
Well done to the lads and Matt G et al. No points but shed loads of kudos.

It was certainly very close one way or the other. Isn't the point that McKirdy was offside when the free kick was taken and then again ahead of the ball when he put it in. Initially I thought Williams was off but he was played on by Ben I think. Regarding the Swindon Pen the keeper makes the initial save brilliantly to rob McKirdy and is still lying on the ground when Reed goes to go around him. The keeper seems to make no movement of his arm as far as I can see - Reed falls over it and tries to get the penalty - hence the simulation. I am very cross that Swindon "out Suttoned Sutton" with their two long ball derived goals. McKirdy has so much pace. It's a crying shame that we haven't had a fit Tanto as he would have terrorised defences. I don't think that Matt has ever had the luxury of fielding a full strength team and a full strength bench all season and I doubt that he will actually get the chance. I fear we will drop off the play offs and finish in mid table mediocrity which will be a tremendous achievement and something to build on nonetheless (but you cant help feeling disappointed) , better than we could have hoped for, rather like our first season back in the NL which also started with a home league defeat and the cup run some parallels with this year. Which means next season we will top League 2 at some stage and end up 3rd !!

I think we’re still able to head back upwards and we’re in with a serious shout. More importantly so does Matt Gray and the players. We can beat Tranmere at home and we’d then be right back in the mix. Even depleted we are very competitive and hard to beat.
McKirdy MOM for me too. Serious threat and looked best player on view. Credit Ben W sticking to the task, early doors thought he might have a bigger direct influence on our goals against column!!

I think you make a great point. Even finishing in mid table obscurity would be a huge achievement. But there's still plenty of football yet to come. 10 games yet to go and I still think 6 wins in those 10 will get us a play off spot, especially if those wins include Tranmere, Newport and Mansfield.
FWP still has us ending up in 7th, and in the results they predict that includes no away wins for the rest of te season.

We're in the midst of a challenging run of games at the moment, but our last seven (post-Wembley) fixtures don't look too scary in the round: four are at home, five are against bottom-half sides, and there's no midweek travel. Much will still depend on getting some of our injured players back soon.

Just seen the highlights and there wining goal was clearly off side, so the assistant ref should have flagged for it. That is the margin off winning or losing in this league.

Peter Venkman on their forum:
As usual a few comments from the Sutton forum about last night, some fair some way off the mark.
"With the side we had out I think we can be proud of the effort. 2 utterly disastrous shambolic goals conceded aside.
Swindon fans may have been worried about their team, but we surely had greater cause for concern. By my reckoning we had ten players missing this evening including all of our central midfield.
this was a proper team effort, with every player working his socks off.
Overall though, Swindon looked a less impressive side than they had at our place. They clearly have some talented players, but in the second half we saw the uglier side of their game as they resorted to fouling and time-wasting. Louis Reed was sent off in stoppage time, I think as the ref adjudged his tumble in the area to be simulation and showed him a second yellow.
A very brave performance tonight, actually undone by 2 basic errors on our part, although I am sure their second was offside?
talk about the ref who was so weak.
Can't say a bad word about us tonight. A threadbare team with a central midfield containing a striker and a player making his league debut after spending the season playing 2 levels below. Huge credit to both of those. And to the rest of the side. I feared a drubbing based on the Swindon we saw earlier in the season.
That Swindon seemed to have disappeared and really they ended up limping to a win.
Im pretty sure the winner was offside, certainly seemed that way watching on the live stream....2 goals in 3 days that should not have stood but have ultimately cost us the points.

If you read the Swindon forum some are quite knowledgable but some haven't a clue and don't know the laws of the game.
They also fail to mention the handball at the end (although Swindon fans I know did acknowledge that they got away with one there).
What made me laugh was last night when McKirdy pushed Goodliffe (i think) out of the way right at the end and the fans were in complete uproar. It was as blatant a foul as you'd ever see. I think it shows that we have to take the majority of their comments with a pinch of salt.
