This is our 4th competitive games we've played against Swindon. All the previous 3 took place on a Tues evening. Both of this seasons ones will also be on a Tuesday. Surely this is the side we've played the most times (percentage wise) whilst never having played them either on a Saturday or never not played them in an evening game? (I'm sure Mr Frake will know) Might depend on whether you include the Surrey Senior Cup or other competitions that are only played midweek (although I know that hasn't always been the case with the SSC). Thinking of teams like Farnham Town, Epsom & Ewell, Walton Casuals et al. Maybe some will be able to think of times when we've played these teams competitively on a Saturday/afternoon but those are just off the top of my head! Edit: I've checked my nerdy spreadsheet, which only goes back to the mid 90s but gives you an idea. In that time we've played (not including friendlies) Godalming four times all midweek, Croydon Athletic four times all midweek and Corinthian-Casuals six times, which might be your answer. Anyone know if we've ever played them competitively on a Saturday?

We used to play Cor-Cas in the Isthmian League in the 60s and 70s, although they were a local derby I'd guess some of those games were on Saturdays - but maybe not.

Casuals' Isthmian games in the 60's and 70's would have been on Saturdays - I can recall Surrey cricketers Bob Willis and Graham Roope keeping goal for (at the time) always hapless Casuals - they seemed to have an arrangement with Surrey for a different player each season. Think Micky Stewart played as well but I personally don't recall him playing. Casuals ground shared with Tooting at Sandy Lane in those days

After a VERY quick check of the "Sutton Utd in the Isthmian League" book, I think we played Cor-Cas 7 times on a Saturday with the rest (over half) midweek.

Casuals ground shared with Tooting at Sandy Lane in those days I remember seeing Corinthian Casuals play Epsom & Ewell in a cup game in the 1970s (Surrey Senior Cup I think). Casuals conceded a penalty - and their goalkeeper stood at the side of the goal giving the Epsom & Ewell penalty taker (Tommy Tuite) an empty goal to aim at. I believe that Casuals did this all the time in those days as they considered it unsporting of themselves to have conceded a penalty.

Up to around 65/6 season, Casuals played at The Oval so no midweek fixtures except at the beginning and end of the season.
As more clubs acquired lights they had to move to fit their fixtures in (having lights may have become a league rule too). Casuals first shared with Dulwich before moving to Tooting & Mitcham.
I did see Sutton play Casuals twice on a Saturday both at GGL. The first was U's first home game after the Leeds match in 1970. Sutton struggled that afternoon winning 1 0. The second was in the FA Cup in early September 1972, Sutton winning 3 1. Four days earlier Sutton had defeated Casuals 6 2 in the Isthmian.
Other than those the rest were midweek.

Some of the Swindon fans really aren't helping their team, getting on their case..

Thought Swindon looked good with the ball first half but defensively awful. We could have scored a couple more. Eastmond also had a great chance early in the 2nd half. We conceded some bad goals and again small margins left us defeated on the road. But we can’t give goals away like we did and come away with points. Again they announced a silly away figure.

Came out of the blocks fast and should have scored more than one when Swindon netted their first followed quickly by their second.
Surprised Omar stayed on and then we get overrun in midfield Harry and Craig and everyone in the team working hard to try and get the ball. We get back into the game but you can only soak up pressure for so long and we conceded in added time yet again.

close game could have gone either way, Randall is our magic man, absolute quality. We probably sat back to much in the final 5-10mins looking happiest with the draw. Our defence looked unusually shaky, and it cost 2 goals, poor old Jack these things happen to keepers.
My worry continues to be Wilson, poor first touch and never really looks like scoring..

Well that was a bit frustrating. To be honest, Swindon were better than Crewe and peppered us for a while in the first half. That first half however contained not only some of the best football I've seen us play this season, but was really entertaining stuff. As Banjo already stated Will and Kizz were great, but having Omar back really changed things up front, and some top quality work from Wilson to set up Randall for that first goal.
Although at least 2 of the 3 goals we could do nothing about, for me the entire team changed with the triple subsitution. At that point the side seemed to lose direction and probably with the exception of Barden (playing on the wrong side of defence for him), and I understand that the players taken off had little left in the tank when they were, but none of the other 4 players that came on were an improvement on who they replaced or even equal to them.
Albeit a small sample, we've now lost points in injury time in half of our away games this season, and we've managed 1 point out of a possible 12. Whilst last season one could argue that injury time goals "helped" as much as they hindered, we've not got that this season so far and there will come a point when it stops being "bad luck" and becomes habitual. If we want to progress, we need to work on that.
Still at least we scored more than one goal against Swindon for the first time.

Interesting as quite a few of us thought Kizzi was poor. He kept misjudging the corners that ended up going over his head (when we were attacking, not defending) and going out for goal kicks. He had a glorious chance to send Kendall on his way but played an awful ball behind Kendall.
It was an entertaining game to watch and Johnny Williams was absolute quality. I thought the Eastmond sitter would come back to bite us and so it proved. Omar was immense in the first 15 mins of the second half.
Some disappointing defensive play for all 3 goals which no doubt the coaching staff will point out.
However as Andy K said some of our football was outstanding and a joy to watch. That first away win of the season won't be far away.
Oh, and there was more than 85 of us there. They don't seem to count purchases on the day!

There was a definite sense of double déjà vu at the final whistle as once again we lose to Swindon and concede after the 90th minute.
There were some good Sutton moments, Will Randall's second goal in particular, and we drew some fine saves from their keeper, including a couple of tip-overs. Jack Rose made a great save very early on, but probably shouldn't have been beaten by the shot that brought them level. That goal seemed to unsettle our defence as we quickly conceded a second. But we stabilised and looked on course for an away point until those six minutes of added time. Questions about game management will inevitably be raised again.
Swindon are a decent side (if not perhaps quite the sum of their parts), and losing narrowly at the County Ground is no disgrace, but the manner of this defeat was disappointing. They take 11th place from us, though we only slip to 12th. Our next two league games are at home where results have been pretty good so far.
