I'd just like to comment on the quality of Harry's finish. We've all seen players attempt full-length headers like that that have flown in every direction, but he caught it perfectly today to find the corner of the net like a bullet. It reminds me of the Jamie Slabber goal Dave. suttonunited.proboards.com/post/67485

Yes i think the choice of ends was dictated by the sun in the last few home games.

Decent, not great, game, some good play by Sutton without ever really catching fire. Good win. Personally, I thought Coby Rowe had an excellent game and was my MOM, even though Hartlepool didn’t threaten often. Wilson needs to be taking those chances, although I’m sure his assist for Randall’s goal will make him feel a bit better. He contributed. I think Wilson was my man of the match! If it wasn’t for their MOTM he could have scored two or three.

First half was a non-event, nearly all the action was in the second. Yes, Donovan Wilson might have had a hat-trick, and probably should have scored at least one, but his role as a provider is perhaps under-appreciated, as he put in the cross for Will Randall's third goal in two games. After that we were a side transformed, Harry looking offside for his headed goal but the ball had been in the air for such a long time that he'd had the time to make the forward run.
Hartlepool had a real go in the closing stages, but, when you're at the wrong end of the table, you tend not to get the breaks. We claimed the three points and move up to 10th. Just got to hope now that Rob Milsom and Joe Kizzi are fit for next Saturday.

When Donovan went through one on one against the Hartlepool keeper, he should have squared the ball to Easty on his left - who would have had an open goal.

And your suggestion is….. Put John at left back. Who has played there for us before, Kizzi and Rowe as centre backs and Barden right back. Everything went down the right on the second half. Even the long balls from the back.

It's not often we play a team so poor we get away with missing three one on one chances. Hartlepool were that poor. Except for a 25 minute spell where we let them tap it around sideways without producing anything, we were dominant. Our first choice front 4 is really starting to purr.
Our decision making in front of goal needs to be much better though. Enzio also should have shot when thru instead of trying to pass, and Wilson needs to put those chances away 9 times out of 10. How do you even evaluate a performance like Wilson's? His movement was superb and rightly got motm yet missed two sitters?
It's obvious already we will not struggle this season, as evidenced by the gulf in class yesterday. I think squad depth will cost us play offs though. Josh and will have to be two of the best wingers in the league but they can't play every game and their replacements are not on the same level. Same with Milsom. For whatever reason we don't seem to have a second choice left back available and Milsom is going to miss games. Didn't matter today, although our poor period conincded with his substitution, and could say the same about Tuesday's last 15.
I will say this too. Not a fan of triple substitutions.

Well the reason re. Milsom is pretty apparent - Hart hasn’t been fit yet. Hopefully he will be soon.

Honestly think zero chance of us making 3 changes to the back 4 when 1 is sufficient and, despite Hartlepool being poor, they had 1 long range strike to show for their attacking efforts yesterday.

How about Aaron Pierre at left back for a bit?

In hindsight, perhaps we might have kept Matt Ridley with us rather than sending him out on loan?

I don't think Wilson missed 2 sitters. I would say more credit is due to their keeper.
I'm still not convinced however poor Hartlepool were yesterday, they're not the worst side I've seen this season. I'd still give that to Crewe.
We could have won by a lot more but that's the first game this season where more than one goal produced a result.
