Out of the 'Pizza Cup', but we can't say we didn't have the opportunities to progress. Matt made three changes from Saturday's starting XI (including Omar's return from suspension) while his opposite number made ten. We had plenty of the ball in the first half and plenty of late pressure in the second, but nothing to show for either. A lack of goals continues to be our Achilles heel.
Not great defending for their goal, and they offered little after that despite bringing some of their 'big guns' off the bench in the final twenty minutes.
If there is a positive to take it's that this exit clears the fixture list a little. Arguably the run to last season's final cost us league points and the squad this term is even more stretched.

Didn't go tonight and watched a rather poor stream of the match which kept cutting out.
What we seem to lack is a creative midfielder and until Ali or Harry are back we will struggle to create chances. Both Adam & Craig seem to be more defensive minded. Couldn't fault the effort though but sadly it wasn't our night.

Thank our lucky stars we have Craig Eastmond. He defended, created and had two attempts on goal our only attempts. Did we have a shot on target?
I never pick out individuals for criticism but surely one loan player must have played their last game for us.
Same like for like substitutions. Why oh why for the second game in a row do we put a centre forward trying to find his feet in this standard of football on the right wing for 5 minutes?

Poor delivery into the box all night, wrong options taken with final ball, and build up play too slow giving defenders the chance to get back and set themselves. You cannot say that we missed a clear cut chance tonight, all scraps. We are mising the likes of Ali Smith and Beauts in midfield. Movement and decisions need to be better..

According to the stats we had 7 shots. 3 on goal and 4 blocked shots.
As a game I thought it was actually quite exciting and could have swung either way, but as is so common we're goal shy. Not just in terms of our shots but I did feel we could have had more shots if we were a bit more bold.
Del is spot on regarding the midfield. We really can only create chances along the wings at the moment, and even saying that the majority of them are coming down the left. But as to emphasise my point earlier this week. We used 5 out of our 6 strikers tonight. Nothing made a difference (although credit to Kouassi who was very good in the air). Along with Easty, I thought Hart, Randall and esp Kizzi had very good games tonight. I thought some others really didn't, and I'm not going to single out that loan player (even if I agree that he was very poor tonight). There were a couple of more established players who didn't cover themselves in glory either.
Having one or two playing a bad match we cab deal with. Any more than that and invariably we will lose. Which we did.
Now for 10 days before Carlisle to really work on the training ground to make the most of what we have on offer.

We huffed and puffed but that final bit was missing.
Disappointing goal to concede. Not sure they had that many opportunities other than that.
Ref was absolutely appalling but then he has always been weak. Booking Omar for a non existent foul on their keeper was one of many baffling decisions. Apparently he booked Louis after that fracas at the end. For what? Being shoved into the net by one of their guys? Clueless and another word beginning with c.

Well we had two loan players out there and of course they are both fairly young. For me Kendall has improved a lot since coming to us and worked hard last night but didn't receive any service. Neufville has been disappointing of late and seems to have lost a lot of pace. Young players will always be inconsistent and i think he needs a rest.

"If" I've read the way the draw was made properly, then we would have been away at Stevenage in the next round, no doubt they would have been really up for it, seeking revenge for the defeat they suffered at Gander Green Lane last season due to Deano's 3 fantastic penalty saves in the shoot out !

All 3 sides that have knocked us out of the 3 main competitions got knocked out of the FA Cup today. AFC Wimbledon resting their players didn't help them as they fell to a 2-0 home defeat to Chesterfield. MK Dons gave away 2 penalties to lose 3-2 at Portsmouth, and Farnborough "did a Sutton" and were drawing 1-1 until the 77th min before eventually collapsing and losing 4-1 at Wrexham.

To properly do a Sutton, that would've had to be the 87th minute, not the 77th 😉

AFC Wimbledon had a 3-0 half-time lead at Plymouth this evening, but ended up drawing 3-3 then losing the penalty shoot-out. 🫨 Football's a cruel game sometimes.
