I'm not sure that it is good from a development point of view for the young boys in the academy to be sent out to be battered by a men's team.

I'm not aware that the attendance was announced. I'd say around 100.
Our academy lads played some tidy football but, as so often in these (mis)matches, the opposition's greater experience was reflected in the final score.
Some defensive naivety saw us trail at the break but we gave it a go in the second half, keeping the score to 0-2 until the last twenty minutes, with the Met then pulling away in the home straight.
The first goal, a free kick, was scored by Herson Alves who did once play for Sutton!

Ex-U Jon Nurse came over for a chat last night, which was really nice. He wanted to say hi to Bruce but I'm not sure he was there!

I expect the club will publish a preview tomorrow to provide some guidance on the team make up. As at Merstham the game will be taken by the academy team who have performed so well in the EFL Youth Alliance this season, as manager Matt Gray explained: ''With the Surrey Senior Cup we always look at when the fixtures fall and what our situation is at the time of the game, and had we played Walton in the last round we were going to field a strong team of first team squad members, but having picked up a few little injuries over the past couple of weeks and given the forthcoming league schedule we can't run the risk of any more knocks and so we will allow the academy team to take the game and hopefully progress to the semi final. They were excellent at Merstham and it will be a good test for them against Met Police, and we look forward to seeing how they get on.' Further to this in the final last night at Dorking Met Police beat Virginia Water 4-1 and did they show their strength, cracking game.
