Could Luton’s promotion to the Premier League see Luton potentially parting company with Josh Neufville and see him come to us permanently?.

Not certain we’d want him of course. I guess depends on who else the management has in mind. Has potential though and we’d hope to develop him. Fits the profile of the type of player we will need to pick up and hope to turn into a decent league footballer. One thing is for certain he won’t be playing in the PL any time soon. I’d be very surprised if he is playing higher than League 2 next season.

I agree that there must be a good chance that Luton will release Josh - but not sure that the player would necessarily want to come to us - or that we would necessarily want him to. While aware of our financial limitations, I don't like this idea that we're going to focus on signing players with potential and hope to develop them into EFL quality plyers. That sounds like gambling to me rather than good recruitment. I don't consider signings like Joe K, David A or Ali S to have been 'gambles' - they were all doing enough in Non-League Football to clearly show that they were ready for the EFL. There are plenty of players at that sort of level currently with National League clubs. Tope and Hisham probably fall more into the 'gamble' category. While we are undoubtedly one of the poorest teams (financially) in the EFL, I wouldn't have thought that Stevenage are one of the wealthiest - but really good recruitment last Summer was enough to turn them from a club faced with relegation the season before into a promoted club last season. Steve Evans, the Stevenage manager, identified good players who were both available and affordable.

Steve Evans, the Stevenage manager, identified good players who were both available and affordable. Stevenage budget would have been far far higher than ours. Players doing well in the NL will be on lots of clubs’ radar (league and bigger non league clubs) so it’s not as simple as plucking the best of non league. I wasn’t suggesting we exclusively work in that market, but by the very nature of our club and the league we are in we’re going to have to try and find some who aren’t wanted elsewhere at this level that we can develop or that can be used in a team hopefully delivering more than the sum of their parts.

( don't know if this is true ) Sorry to correct you, they are "interested". And even then, it's gossip as best. It's quite a leap to suggest they are drawing up contracts for him. There's no media posts I've seen that suggest he has rejected a new contract.
