For those who could not turn up last night. This is a quick breakdown of what was discussed. Pre match catering and costs and advertising same. Programme sales. Possible open day events ( meet the players and background staff ) The public sound system ( quality)Season ticket sales The way forward regarding the Stadium. Lease of ground and works to be carried out. The relationship with the council. Hopefully I have covered everything . If I have missed anything and I apologise, and no doubt some one else will cover. I will give precis of the answers (these are not club sensitive issues) I provided to the questions on programme sales from the floor which Tim passed over to me to answer - Carlisle United lack of available programmes pre-match - we did predict a bigger crowd and we ordered additional but we had an unforseen rush of people pre-ordering Friday evening through to Sunday by the time we could react the printers were closed and we could not get additional printed as it was bank holiday weekend. - Hit & Miss Programme seller @ Collingwood Rec turnstile - we have three dedicated volunteer programme sellers, the volunteer by Collingwood Rec turnstile unfortunately sometimes has work commitments for some fixtures meaning we have nobody to sell at this entrance. Also if one of the three are ill or away then we make sure Gander Green Lane and Away end are covered before Colingwood Rec turnstile. Anybody wishing to help sell programmes next season please speak with AB, Tim or myself as we would like to build up a pool of sellers in case one of our normal sellers is unavailable - Guaranteeing a programme - reminder that we have offered programme subscriptions the last two seasons we have been in EFL and we can then cater for subscription pre-orders when we consider the number of programmes we order and you are guaranteed a programme to be posted to you within the week after the match

Thanks Rob for your post. I felt it was not my position to reveal what was discussed last night. Also I apologise to you for omitting you from my earlier posts.

It was "asked" by quite a few people.

It was "asked" by quite a few people. Few things are impossible. However the additional rerun for the Crewe match was produced at a loss. Given the particular historical relevance of that game the Club decided to go ahead. That wouldn't apply in all circumstances. In the instance of the Carlisle game to breakeven would have required either a print run minimum of around 300 extra programmes, or selling a smaller run at a higher price than that originally on sale. Neither option looked to be justifiable. For next season, and beyond, the Club needs to decide what its programme offering is to be. A club the size of Bradford for instance, with the potential demand it must have with attendances of 15,000+ didn't produce one. Other clubs, such as Crewe, produce monthly ones covering multiple matches. Some, such as Walsall, produce bumper size ones (likely at an economic loss). We have, to date, produced ours in the traditional manner for each game (mainly) and make a few pennies per programme sold (and approaching £3 loss for each one left unsold). So what to do? Make it a better value bumper edition for people to buy, with more content, and charge £4 or £5. Or scrap it? Or keep what we are doing producing something that broadly breaks even, but runs the risk of large losses when we produce too many, or risk upset of those disappointed fans who are unable to purchase one? It's not easy. From a Club perspective this becomes easier as we grow our fanbase. There are elements of fixed costs so having 5,000 instead of 2,500 at each game gives a better chance of this being economic, for instance. From a spectator perspective pre-ordering, or buying a programme season ticket gives certainty of purchase, but also gives the club better visibility of demand too. Turning up to matches early (and enjoying a beer in the bar, or the offerings in the fanzone) helps too. Happy to receive the feedback via Claire of course.

On the subject of programmes, I'm one of the (apparently dwindling) number of supporters who likes to buy one for each game I attend. I find it a useful physical record of the match, and I always annotate mine to show the starting XI and subs for each side. One other valuable aspect is the league table as it stands on the day of the match (something that's not generally possible to find online for past matches). I'd add that I think Lyall performs a great (and sometimes thankless) task as editor of our programmes, which have about the right mix of content.
I'd be happy to pay a bit more for a programme if that helps to sustain its production. I wouldn't be too averse to a greater number of 'double' programmes (i.e. covering two matches) if that also helps.

I have to agree with Amber Aleman. I always buy a programme and get mine as early as possible so as not to miss out. If I'm not at an away fixture I always seek to buy one from the club shop as they usually have one or two for sale. I have to say I'm always really disappointed that Bradford don't produce a programme, especially with their fanbase and don't get me started about FGR and our very first match in the EFL. Such an historic occasion and yet no programme which I'm sure would have sold out!! I would be gutted if we didn't produce them as I have them going back into the 60's and was one of my hobbies as a kid and I guess still is. I'd be happy to pay a bit more for a match day one and I'm grateful for all those who regularly contribute. Personally and I'm bias, but I think it's one of the best ones in L2.

It goes without saying where I stand on this topic. After all, if we stopped producing, what would I do with myself during the season? 😉
I would also be incandescent having collected for years and including reserve and youth have about 5,000.
There is a movement to retain the printed programme one which I fully support. Obtaining one is as important to me as actually attending the match.
I really don't get Bradford's stance. With their fan base one would have thought they would sell enough to cover costs. I just think it's downright laziness. Not even a digital option available.
Newport produced a small size prog for £2 and that was fine. They demonstrate it is possible to retain the tradition without the need to go crazy with regards to production.

I have to admit i stopped buying them years ago as most, but not all,of the content is available on line and i felt i was just buying a programme full of adverts. They take up a lot of space and i can't think who would want them when i've gone.

Ditto from down under re the need to retain the physical match programme.
I can stomach the stopping of weekly Lion comics, football cards in cigarette packets, the stopping of cards (Butterflies of the World, Trees of Great Britain, etc.) in the likes of Brooke Bonds PG Tips packets - but the day Sutton Utd stop a match program will be a real double gutter - worse than even the one experienced at about 4.30 pm on Saturday 12th April 1969 - well maybe not - but it would be a close run thing.

Yes.Keep the programme going. As others have said am willing to pay a bit more for it.Its all part of the match day experience and as others gave said part of history. A number of clubs have stopped doing programmes ( not cost effective) and are only doing team sheets. As Andrew F will agree.

I agree with every word Hobart. I even have some sets of tea and cigarette cards that my dad collected in the 1930s. I was reading last night about the magician Ali Bongo (apparently the inspiration for Jonathon Creek) - he collected so much magic memorabilia that he had to take out a lease on a second apartment in the block of flats where he lived.

Wish I had retained some though. It feels like an awful waste of paper to me given online content. But I completely get those on here wanting the memorabilia and a small bit of me feels the same.

Hi Andy. Andrew is the guy who sells programmes in front of the home turnstiles. He also collects programmes and or team sheets on away games.
