Not young but has the experience and will keep Lizzie on his toes.

Seems like we’ve got the defence sorted now with good cover/competition in all positions. Good signing on paper.

Looks like another good signing - and particularly nice to see us recruiting a player who has been playing higher in the pyramid than ourselves. Cheltenham clearly wanted to keep him, so wonder why he opted to drop down the pyramid (can not believe we were offering more money)? Maybe to return to London?
Among his other talents, he has a very long throw:
We now appear to have 3 x right backs - unless Jon B is now viewed more as potential cover for Easty? We look pretty strong (I would say, on paper, stronger than last season) as a 'defensive unit' (goalkeeper to holding midfield) - even with the loss of Coby. Now comes the more difficult job of filling all the gaps in the team in front of Easty.

Top of Cheltenham's assist table which would suggest a dead ball specialist. Most important, with the ageing Milsom potentially less able to play week in week out.
Can't believe he's come here as back up. I do wonder if matt might use kizzi as a centre half in a 3 at times this season.
Barden is a utility player, originally signed as a holding midfielder. He's also still in the early stages of injury rehabilitation according to matts recent update.
That's the defence sorted! Now for a goalscorer and some creative players!

Maybe not just dead balls, Cheltenham fans say he puts in a great cross

Presumably long throws that lead directly to goals would be classified as 'assists' as well?
Given the wing-backs we have at the club, do we really need 4 x wingers as well?

Matt just wants competition four Places, also they might be versatile as well, so can understand why Matt might want four wingers. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

I was surprised to see another right back. Maybe as Baboonfish suggested Joe could be one of 3 at the back.
where will he get 4 wingers? I know where you can get 4 candles though.

I'm slightly surprised but maybe Barden is a long way off being considered for first-team action. Pleased to see that he made 33 (+5) league appearances last season suggesting he certainly wasn't a second choice: www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=53747

This 3 at the back idea makes a certain sense. But Matt plays 4-4-2.
This is partly guesswork but I feel that Matt, if necessary, looks to prioritise a strong defensive unit (incl. holding midfield) above other factors. If you don't conceed too many goals, at this level, you will tend not to struggle too much. It's not a recipe for high achievement, perhaps, but it is solid tactical thinking.

I read an analysis once of the PL/EFL, IIRC, that indicated roughly as many points are gained by conceding zero goals as by scoring two in a match so that makes a lot of sense.

Nothing to stop him changing. I seem to remember when he first arrived he was only playing with one up front but changed things and it worked.
