Potential banana skin, our record v lower league oppos in the cup is terrible ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Including painful defeats to Isthmian teams, like Bognor and Burgess Hill. I dunno about banana skin, it’s more black ice I’d say. I really hope we don’t lurch to a new low here because I’ve already been in therapy for the last 13 years since the Alton Town defeat. I don’t want to have to double my sessions. Well, that’s enough negativity from me, somebody say something positive.

I don’t want to have to double my sessions. Well, that’s enough negativity from me, somebody say something positive. Bognor was the FA Trophy I believe, and I think at the time they were only 1 division lower than us and we lost in the reply. And remember the Alton Town defeat happened in the same season that we won the Ryman League. It's not unusual for sides doing well in the league to lose to lower opposition as eyes are invariably drawn to league performance and early rounds of the cup are seen as a "free hit". I can't see that happening here. I see this as a real strength of character for this team. Win this, we get the prize money of £67k and as the draw happens well before the transfer window opens, it could well open more options for Matt in January. There's a lot at stake for us, but luck really plays such an important part of a season for any club. Whether it be injuries, when you play certain clubs or incidents that happen on the field. Not taking anything away from the achievement, but part of the reason we are a league side was luck, especially with injuries that season. Same the following season. Last season showed what happened when luck isn't going your way. Of course there is the potential to "slip up" on Dec 2nd, but I don't think anyone can say the chances of progress for us have not improved now we are playing a side 7th in the Isthmian League compared to 6th in League One. We've been given a real opportunity for the first time this season, and now it's up to us to take advantage of it. I know Matt is rather "level headed" but he really does need to get through to the squad the importance of winning the game for the club as a whole.

I wonder if there is a chance that we could be on TV if the date was moved or are all TV live games set in stone? No all TV games were announced before the replays If we play for a draw i'm guessing the replay will be shown live ! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I’m confident that we will win , although a replay before progressing would be good for the bank balance . I’ve not felt this confident for several weeks …. I like the feeling !
As has been said , get through and draw a Premier League big boy could be the financial saviour for the season and our league future 😺. Lose and we would hit a new low as supporters 🫣. I’m sure that Matt will know the importance of this fixture .

This has a sort of deja vu feel to me. Have we benefitted in the past because of an inelligible player? And a sort of tongue in cheek comment. Was the price of tickets for this round 50% higher than the previous round because it was the second round or because (we thought) we would be paying a bigger team? (Ducks and waits for the flack) Wasn't Fylde £16? This is £18. Pretty sure THAT run increased each round as well

I have to say Horsham looked excellent in the second half, and will definitely give us a game with absolutely nothing to lose. I predict a very smiliar test as Fylde. We need to be better than we were then, and Tranmere. The Tranmere game would not have looked out of place in the Isthmian at all.
It's a different kind of pressure now, with us expected to win and really really needing that cash. As others have mentioned, this could define our season.

Horsham already taking their second chance very seriously I see they have cancelled their midweek fixture so whilst we will be playing a hard important game against Crewe they will be resting. Given by the number of ticket enquiries fielded this morning the fixture is showing much more interest, the grandstand for example has only a few seats available for purchase

Not bad for a team that represented both clubs:-
Ricky Collier
Gary Cross Barry Steer Sam Page Micky Fountain
Malcolm Bailey Steve Ibbotson Colin Newstead
Roy Osborne Steve Cosham Mike Cornwell
Subs Dai Mason Terry Burns Tom Kavanagh

Firstly, it's postponed not cancelled.
Secondly, it won't be the first time a club from IL level has been granted this favour in such circumstances. As long as league and opponents are ok about it, then fine.
The IL would get good publicity out of a giant killing as well as the club itself, hence, the favour.
