Very disappointed with the attendance on Saturday. with 320 being quoted. I appreciated Cray did not appear to have been very well supported....but 320! I would have thought being a FA cup match with a lot at stake (MONEY) the game would have attracted a few more paying punters. We have a side that that at times plays attractive football, with results turning the corner. Must be very disappointing for the management, who have obviously dug a little deeper to increase the budget for this year, and the new manager. We have had a lot of comments about the running track etc being blamed for lack atmostphere... but with 320 spread around the ground what can you expect. Lets hope we get a home draw in the next round and we get a decent gate.

You have to remember that the attendance is actual paying crowd for the cup. League games include season tickets and a few others. That said, yes, it was disappointing. And despite a low crowd, the singing was poor again Miller...

The Editor comments that the attendance figure for cup games only includes those paying on the day; this is ridiculuous as the attendance figure should include everyone present whether they have paid or not ; it should only exclude those participating in the game eiher directly or via some official function. what happens versus Canvey when kids are allowed in for free?? IMO they should be included in the attendance figure.

I think the crowd last Saturday reflects the true support we get each week. I think the home attendances are inflated by season tickets given out to the Colts etc. .....I could be wrong

For FA competitions the attendance has to be accurate and official for money sharing. And if you want to count the crowd on Saturday, be my guest.

Let me repeat what Ed is saying but in a different way. In cup competitions the number of complimentary tickets to each club is limited by the competition rules. All other spectators pay and this gives us our total attendance. In league games we assume that all season ticket holders are present, and we can also give out as many comps as we see fit (as in tomorrow's Kids Go Free promotion), so the total gate is season ticket holders + comps used + those who pay on the day.

I tried to count them but they kept moving!!!!,
I have a season ticket and go through to the main stand via the office. Nobody there counts people coming through so I guess nearly everyone in the main stand isn't included in the attendance figure.

As I said, for league games we include the total of all season tickets sold

I guess that they have a certain number of tickets at the main stand and just count what's left to work out how many have been sold.

No it has been the same for years.
Example
200 season ticket holders and we have a league game were not one single person turns up, zero, none , no one, not a soul - the official attendance would be 200.
Cup matches - the people through the gates, who actually pay money count so in the senario above the figure would be zero
