The only way I see us sell Smith is to secure funds with relegation being expected, or if the fee is substantial, perhaps we have our sights on other players that we think may bring more Ballance over all. But if the bored want us to stay up, then the sale of Smith would be a bit perplexing. More likely to happen at the end of the season. With him looking like he will be out for 4 games, as it does not look like we have time to reverse the red, then his value this season has gone down a pinch. Sorry if this is a little off thread. I'm not sure why the club would be 'short of time' to reverse the red? If the club hasn't appealed it (and I can't see any statement to indicate that they have) then surely that means they're not going to because they don't think the appeal would win? In transparency, I say that as someone who thought it was a red.

Not something that is announced but filters through in previews/interviews. We won’t be short of time to appeal, we’ll either do so or won’t.

In transparency, I say that as someone who thought it was a red. Even if they think its no red, it depends on the video footage and nature of the tackle, they dont like reversing them and can even add to the punishment if they like, so maybe we won't even appeal it. For me this was barely a yellow, And evidence in footage shows he did not go in two footed like some have claimed. He went in with one foot, won the ball and then pulled his foot back while the momentum of his knee on the other leg drove into the player who made the most of it. No different to the challenge seconds before it. I am hoping they appeal.

I am not sure if there are different classes of offences, but reading up, it seems the suspension will depend on the severity of the challenge, so they may appeal with the hope that even if its not reversed that the punishment is reduced, but given this is his second red it might be hard. Probably looking at 3 games. At least one of these will be taken up by our FA cup game which at least means its one less league game affected. Or maybe they see sense.

Aiden O’Brien loan also up this coming month. Wonder what the feelings are on that one from all 3 parties involved.

I would like to see Aiden kept. I understand we have Pereira for the season. Deano made some good saves today so we'll probably keep him.
I think if the offers are good enough we should cash in on Smith. Like Omar Bugiel before, he is a marked man and an Orient supporter friend on mine said he was a problem when we signed him.

I doubt very much there will be any significant player movements, either in or out, until a permanent manager is announced. Unless there is a deal too good to refuse (either in or out).
Which is one of the many reasons why the Paul McCallum story is bollocks.
