This Saturday we have a visit from Stanley who recently dispensed with the services of their manager. It would be nice to think that we could get back to back wins against a team that has little to play for.
That would certainly close the gap at the bottom with both Colchester and Forest Green having tough matches. We could all start dreaming of escaping relegation then and things will look a lot more certain after the Easter programme.
We certainly can win this and i just hope the team produces a battling performance.
Also we will know Colchester's result before we kick off.

Interesting to note that there are similarities between Accrington and Sutton in recent times with both clubs arguably punching well above their weight and each having had highly successful and very long-serving managers. This from Wikipedia:
"On 18 September 2014, Coleman was confirmed as manager of Accrington Stanley for his second spell with the club. In the 2015–16 season, Coleman led Accrington to a 4th place finish, missing out on automatic promotion on the final game of the season by goal difference. In the play-offs, Accrington lost to AFC Wimbledon after extra time in the semi-finals. In the 2017–18 season, the club won the League Two title to reach the third tier of English football for the first time in the club's history. His achievement earned him the EFL Manager of the Season award for 2017–18.
They were relegated to League Two at the end of the 2022–23 season. On 3 March 2024, Coleman was sacked by Accrington the day after a 4–0 defeat to Wrexham with the club in 16th position. At the time of his departure, he was the longest-serving manager purely in the EFL having been in charge for 9 years and 6 months. Across his two spells with the club, Coleman was in charge for 1,098 matches."

3 players away on international duty (Moore, Williams and Duke-McKenna) so that’s going to stretch our squad further this weekend, hopefully Coley can recover after limping off last Saturday. Patrick could well come into the side after his fine cameo appearance at FGR.
Big opportunity this on Saturday to record back-to-back league wins for the first time this season, I so hope we can take it!

I’m guessing Patrick was given some match time last weekend as Morison knew full well he’d be needed in the squad this week. Hopefully he’ll jump at the chance to show the management why he should be starting every week.

I went to Accrington Stanley v Bradford City two weekends ago (Town v WBA day after). Accy lost 3-0, all goals in the first half. They had a young team out and looked vulnerable at the back. Sutton need to attack them from the start. A good opportunity this.

It's almost as if the pressure is off, in a strange way. We must win yes. But we are currently down in most people's minds. All we can do is put pressure on the rest who have it all to lose now. A win would be the first consecutive league win of the season and could put us in a healthy mindset as we approach the last pile of games.
Williams has not yet featured anyway and looks like a long-term signing. Moore is promising but is currently utilized more as a sub, but Duke is the main loss. Let's hope Patrick is on the button. Coley looked bright last week also..

That would certainly close the gap at the bottom with both Colchester and Forest Green having tough matches. You've been watching football more than long enough to know there's no "certainly" about it! Yes, they have tough matches...but you know that doesn't mean they will lose. All we can do is try to rack up a few wins ourselves ...

There is indeed no certainty about any football result but i wouldn't put any money On Colchester tomorrow so we could be level on points. That's all i was saying. You have to keep the faith.

Of course you do! But you can't be saying Colchester and FGR having tough games will certainly close the gap if we win...
Colchester are winning at Mansfield btw

Looks like those worthless Colchester couldn’t hold on to their lead. Still, a point for them is more valuable to them than us. We’re in the position where we’re playing for 3 points only. Must-win game today.

Well done lads, good win and a screamer to boot. Makes it two wins and off the bottom of table. Just keep winning lads and the pressure will be put on Colchester, even with games in hand, so an exciting few games left.⚽️⚽️⚽️

Enjoyed the game today, quite open, some decent play at times and some L2 up and under at times. I told you Accy were vulnerable at the back! With better finishing SU could have had more. A great save by Arnold after about 30 minutes, it could have been different if that had gone in.
Lakin has been a superb signing. Did his corner go straight in, it looked like it? Screaming volley for the third, goal of the season contender.
Keep going Sutton. Those games in hand for Colchester could be crucial but SU can only look after themselves.
