After Saturday we now take on Gateshead who at this current time sit in 4th place.
The current league form in October of Gateshead leading into Wednesday game is:
1-0 Win at home to Wealdstone
2-1 Lost away at Tamworth
2-2 Draw away at Altrincham
How are the supporters feeling about the game we are about to encounter? What result do you think might happen?
Also can some let me know just out of my own curiosity when we last played a league game at home on a Wednesday night?
Sutton United is my football team. I have been watching them since 1988 and a lot has changed from my first game.
I have always found it hard to understand why people think that their opinion is always the correct or right way of doing something on a football pitch, I agree everyone has a right to an opinion, this does not mean that that opinion will be agreed by all or some or just one.
We support our team through the darkest hour to the brightest day.
This new Sutton United we have right now, is a group of players that have the potential to go on to do great things, yes some of the players are raw talent, some are just finding their feet, we need to support these players and when it does go wrong that is when our support needs to be at it strongest.
Please let us talk about football agree to disagree but at the end of the day show your support and cheer for Sutton United on Wednesday and every day they play.

From what I can see the last home league game on a Wednesday (non Bank Holiday) was on 17 April 2013, a 5-1 win against Hayes & Yeading. We did play Chelsea on a Wednesday night in the EFL Trophy a couple of seasons ago.

Most of this season our weakness has been defense. While I think our new style does invite us to leak more goals, some of the defending cant be excused. This has not been helped by experienced players out like Jackson and Ransom, as well as Muller being out who was Steve's first choice. The defenders we have brought in mid season are promising but the chopping and changing in the back four cant help things.
Waller, while he does show signs of being decent, he has been left wanting at times. I am not sure why Vas has been sidelined as he started of as one of the most promising players. And while French is decent on the right and can pick out a pass, its not his first position and means we lack that bit of pace and attacking threat from that area.
Its been difficult to predict our scores all season, as we don't know what to expect. I think we are possibly due a draw tonight, and it will probably be a good result as we wait for players to come back and steady our defense.

Second half a lot better but still it's a continued slide towards the wrong end of the table.

Very tactical cagey affair. You could say we got things spot on but unfortunately the scoreline went their way. I thought on chances created, and there weren’t many, we certainly edged it. Expected a bit more from Gateshead but I guess we made it difficult with bodies behind the ball. Not sure the linesman was giving that penalty until one of their players was screaming in his face, looked weak (though of course it may well have been a pen, couldn’t see from where I was). There were positives tonight, keeper looked solid with his feet, we kept a side flying high to almost nothing in terms of chances, we played out ok at times. Just sometimes we do all the good work and then a bad decision or terrible pass undoes it, a little slow of thought as well and getting caught in possession. I’d say something to build on despite the loss and it being a pretty ordinary spectacle at times in terms of action at least.

What a bunch of cheats! That goalie was just asking to be taken advantage and oh how I would have loved it if he'd got caught out.
I couldn't really comment on the penalty they were given and our 2 calls for similar offences.
What I can comment on however was the blatant foul throw which led up to the attack resulting in the penalty. He had one foot on the pitch. Why don't the linesmen watch these kind of things? They don't have a lot to do.
I've no idea what caused the commotion at the end of the game; probably frustration at their time wasting tactics. And why do refs fall for players going down "injured" or having to tie their boot laces (do they have any?)?
What I do know is that we're heading for another substantial fine.

For the second time this season we've lost three consecutive league games. The last time that happened, we arrested the poor run with an away win in Essex. Can we repeat that trick this Saturday?
What's becoming clear is the absence of a ball-winner in midfield is costing us too much possession. And when we do have the ball, it's often given away cheaply. During the first half-hour, Gateshead must have had about 75% possession. Fortunately for us, they didn’t do a great deal with it, and it was us who came closest to scoring when, in a rare home attack, Vaz clipped the outside of a post.
The penalty to them was made more galling by the ref waving away an apparently similar offence by a visiting player not long afterwards. We threatened a lot more in the last twenty minutes, but couldn't quite break down a stubborn defence in which the peroxide-haired Dan Jones stood out in more ways than one.
We've now lost more NL games than we've won this season, and only managed to win twice at home. Reinforcements are required.
