Not looking good so far on their D-Day I'm afraid
Ian Rose has received a fax from the Voluntary Arrangement Service (VAS)stating:
The Voluntary arrangement Service are not able to support Franborough Towns request for a CVA due to the failure of the previous arrangement.
Ian Rose has spoken to Gerald Howarth MP, who will be speaking with Richard Caborn and other ministers regarding this matter immediately to see if the decision can be overturned.
More updates to follow in due course.
Best Wishes
Tony Theo

Hayes are surely listening and hoping (though I'd hope without malice against another club)...

At least Hayes didn't spend what they didn't have.

I am sorry for them but if these teams continue to get away with it, then it just puts clubs like ours who spend money wisely at a disadvantage. The day the supporters of these clubs kick up a fuss when the money is being spent before the crap hits the fan, rather then just gloating will be a good day for football.

Reading their forum, it seems that the fans have accepted they will not be playing conference south footy next year. Lots of talk about forming a new club, with new colours. As the council own Cherrywood Road looks like they will still be able to play there, but at Ryman Div 1 south status. Oddly enough though there is no "fighting talk" to save their status on there from their fans. Do they know something we don't and more importantly Hayes don't know!

I think most Farnborough fans are fed up of this noose that's been hanging around their necks for the last few years and would welcome the chance to start afresh under Tony Theo, even if it meant a drop of a couple of leagues.
Good luck to them though - there's one hell of a lot of spirit in that club and it's been one of my favourite away days in the last couple of years, despite 2 defeats down there!

Why was it everytime i went to Farnborough and felt like i was being ripped off?Extra money at the turnstiles and paying to park on an unmade up car park.Nicked our best players and overspent.Sorry i don't feel too much sympathy for the club but i am sorry for their supporters who i know have been helping keeping them afloat in recent years.

I'd actually miss Farnborough. Nice easy trip down there, facilities are not bad, a bigger team in our division (rather than the likes of Yeading) and of course the Boro Bug. At our level we want to compete with team that have had conference experience rather than tinpot ones.

There's some fighting talk from Tony Theo quoted in today's NLP. The problem seems to be that HM Revenue & Customs have blocked a second CVA - they're owed about 70% of the £1m debts.
Theo lambasts a "faceless bureaucrat" for making the critical decision. As a "bureaucrat" myself I find that comment objectionable - I imagine the tax officials involved where simply doing their job and following agreed guidelines. If you start bending the rules in one case, other companies will expect similar leniency.
Theo also points out that the debts arose under a previous ownership of the club. Maybe so - but when you take control of a company you assume responsibility for its assets AND liabilities. Caveat emptor!
Despite all that, I think we all feel sympathy with the fans who (as usual) have little or no influence over the financial management of their club. Interestingly, if Hayes do get a reprieve because of Boro's misfortunes then seven of next season's BS South clubs would be from south or west London.

At the end of the day they spent money that belonged to other people, therefore enabling them to compete against others at an unfair advantage. To only be droped 2 divisions when many clubs have spent years and years climbing to the level of Rym Div 1 is totally wrong, if they go bust they can start again in the county league. For the good of football and fair play it abouts time that one of these clubs were made an example of and the rules are changed. As for the Farnboro fans I could not give a stuff about them, what about the true Sutton fans who have been denied success because of teams spending what they aint got? Canvey took the title on a budget they could not sustain, and denied us a conference place and the possibilty of holding together one of the best squads we had seen for years.
So although there maybe a few genuine fans of these clubs out there, they keep very quiet when they are spending and only bleat when its all gone.

Although I can't see any official confirmation yet, I think that, technically, Farnborough will be liquidated, whereupon Tony Theo will buy whatever assets remain from the liquidator (they don't own the ground) and effectively form a new club, debt free.
It is confirmed, though, that they will start in BGB League South and West, whilst we will be off to Hayes again.

They can now look forward to local derbies against Winchester City and Andover.

Winchester City are so tinpot. I once found their entire first team standing around in a service station car park with no coach, looking lost, confused and slightly scared.
