Thing is DelBoy, the last 2 champions from Conf South were full time sides with huge budgets.
Look at St Albans. IMO their side from last year was far better than anything we've met this season, yet they're looking almost certain to rejoin us for next year

I must compliment H& W on their pitch, excellent condition considering its the end of the season. This pitch suited Sutton, played at times some excellent football a pity about their finishing. Lets hope they bring their shooting boots out of the changeing room for a big game against Salisbury on Sat.

Hi there U's fans I know neutrals' viewpoints are normally annoying cos they often disagree with the more partial supporters ;D but I happen to agree with most of you. I think Sutton just about deserved a point for endeavour alone although both sides let themselves down passing/finishing-wise at times. It perhaps sums the game up when I say neither side deserved to win (as opposed to thrillers where you might say neither deserved to lose). On the timewasting front - you can't say the referee didn't do anything about it. He didn't caution anyone for it (you only would if it was taken to extremes) but all I will say is we had four minutes of injury time in the first half (unusual to have that amount in the first half) and six in the second. That's an extra 10 minutes of play - and the physio was only on twice all game if I remember rightly. And TQ's sending off didn't take that long to sort out. I actually think that bar a couple of odd decisions, the referee didn't do THAT badly. Perhaps is biggest error was not spotting the wrestling match inside the area that should've been a Sutton penalty but his view may well have been restricted by other players. I can sort of see Taz's point about H&W not surviving in the Conference but I think they'd have more pulling power for players in the summer than Stalebuns had last. And H&W do have a fair amount of money - they're still reaping the benefits of the Carlsberg six-figure deal they struck last summer AFAIK.

Not sure Rob, but he certainly didn't make the trip to Havant. He definately made the trip as he was in the bar after the game!

It has him down on the bench on the official site. I honestly don't remember seeing him there. Oh well.

Going back to Taz's point about not seeing anything this season that gives evidence that they will survive in the conference, I totally agree with his point. High flying teams have been really mediocre, and even in our defeats we, as far as I can recall, have never been outclassed this season. But then of course until really this week, the top spot has been a close contest, although now a small village near Cambridge looks like they may pull it off.
I also want to agree with Taz's point about St Albans last seaon. At the latter stages of the season at Clarance Park they looked like a class outfit (although earlier when we whopped them 4-0 it was difficult to say the same). I think its been easier to see which are the poor teams in this league rather than the better ones.

Just look at last season when we were top. There's all the proof you need!
