Am I in a minority of one!! To have the chance to win a bit of silver ware after so many years would be nice. OK so we may make the play offs. All very good, but would we win them??? If not we've had another bad season. It's OK winning games in this league, but it's not where we want to be, and the play offs are a lottery, and the chance to win some silver ware, any silver ware surely is every clubs desire!! Rant over!! All I want is a playoff spot, no bit of silverware apart from the FA Cup comes anywhere near close. I want to go back to the Dripping pan next season and wipe them smug smiles from last season off their faces. No bit of second rate silverware is going to persuade me otherwise!

Ok Clive I want to go there to. But we aint going to win the league this season unless Dover inplode. Staines are a very good side, will we beat them in the play offs if we get there??

My concern is the more we play, the more money we will lose - its one of those competitions which has that effect. Mind you Horsham got more thuggish as the game went on.
I have to admit, like Taz, I found it quite entertaining - first half was a bit rubbish, but 2nd half and extra time much better. Seeing Monk going up for a corner in the last min was funny!
Tom Hughes MoM was again a good choice, although I think Gav ran him close, he didnt stop running the entire game!!

We've got that over with now. To me, a shot at promotion is far bigger than the league cup, or the SSC for that matter.
To all those doubting Toms out there, I believe that, on the day, we can beat anyone in this division! The Dover game showed that. We've played Stains already this season and should have won that too. If we make the play-offs, we have a genuine chance of going straight back up, as long as our side is not torne apart by illness and injury at the end of the season.
C'mon the U's!!!

Don't like to give away tunnel 'secrets', generally, but on this occasion, I overheard one of the Horsham guys say, "That's another bl**dy round we've got to play!" as he came off the pitch at the end of the game.
Perhaps they're as enamoured with the competition as we are.
Roll on Saturday, back to the real world.

League cups have to be the most boring competitions, particularly if you are in the top division of the league involved. Theonly plus point is that I can turn up 5 minutes before ko and park the car aesily, because lots of other people have voted with their feet. Frankly, unless we are awarded a bye to the final, I am not interested and not at all concerned that we are out. What did we gain from last night? We saw some more of the reserve players, but nothing that we didn't already know. On the other hand, I suspect we lost money on the evening, we've missed an opportunity either to reel in a legaue game in hand or to have a decent training session, the pitch is a bit more cut up, we've got some more yellow cards and we ran the risk of key players getting injuries. I really think we should put out a full reserve side in this competition and charge £4 entrance.

Would the league frown if we put out a ressie team or is it OK to do so?

That's excellent news! Whereas a new contract is no guarantee that Billy will stay with us until 2010, it does show a level of commitment by both parties.

Considering the heavy pitch, I thought it was a good game last night. Horsham probably edged it but it was tight and I'm not complaining.
I cannot understand how, having given the foul, the ref did not send off Gavin Heeroo but again I'm not complaining. MoM for me was Gav McCallum, run his heart out.
Two points about the proggy; firstly we lost to Slough in '95 not '85, sorry keyboard error and secondly why did Lyall suggest we were already though before a ball was kicked last night in his up & coming fixtures piece? I won't be looking to him for any meaningful predictions in the near future.

Heeroo might well have gone, but the foul was outside the box and the winger was offside at the start of the move. Maybe I'd be more upset if that had been the FA Cup !
