There was a robbery at GGL today and unsurprisingly the villains came from Carshalton so nothing new there Disappointed like everyone else I am sure we did everything right and kept the Bobbins very quiet until the last minute. I thought our defensive display was again superb with the Bobbins clueless resulting in aimless balls forward all afternoon from them. We did not create enough to get that second goal which always leaves you open to one move which was just a hopeful cross into the danger area albeit a very good one but hopeful none the less which gave them a point they did not deserve on the balance of play. We played well today and really just need to consider it as a point towards our playoff place and go out Saturday and grab the Win at Margate. A win and a draw means we have a playoff spot and boy do we owe AFCH who remember should be at least 3pts further away from us if it was not for assault with intent!

Bloody quiet on both boards considering we have all just watched the Borough Derby. No oubt everyone is getting pissed up in the bar(s).
Obviously a bit gutted with Charlie's late equaliser but it was a great diving header. It was the only time that they got behind our defence all match. However, I thought a draw was probably about right on the balance of play. Both defences were in command for much of the match and neither 'keeper was kept that busy.
We seemed to lose our way a bit after scoring but maybe playing with ten men for 70 mins began to take its toll as the match wore on?
We were missing a number of players today but those who came in did well enough.
Unfortunately, AFC H, Wealdstone & Darford all won. We still need a win to be sure of a play-off place & I think Margate will be tough as they bid to stay in the RLP.
Squeaky bum time for both sides!
Copied from another thread if this is to be the match thread!

I personally don't think we can complain too much about the result. A very average Carshalton side were there for the taking but we didn't do enough to add to the one goal. We created as little as them. Essentially it could lead to an extension of the play offs for us with the game vs Hornchurch, though they still have work to do to make it so (as do Carshalton). I guess if we can win at Margate it might still be enough but Hornchurch will be a very tense match if we still need something from it. I think the result hurts Carshalton even more than us which is a consolation.

The law of four points from six has prevailed over the weekend!
1] I would've taken four points from six over the weekend although had envisaged the win and draw being reversed.
2] I would also have taken four points from six over two games against the local rivals.
On balance, we've got to be happy with both of those although arguably we should be disappointed in not having taken all 3 today. On reflection, Carshalton offered very little over the two games and it was certainly a point salvaged for them today and two points lost for us; no wonder they celebrated 1 point out of six so vigorously!

Today iv'e got to say i don't believe our substitutions helped us.We got fairly defensive and let Carshalton come at us for the last 15 minutes. We need to beat Margate as we don't want to go into our last game needing to win.

The Bobbins had 4 shots at goal in the whole game with 2 on target, the first one being a great save from Nicholls 2 mins from time. We created more than double that amount although didn't test their keeper too much. I thought our back 4 were superb today and they really didn't threaten at all. Who is Richard Jolly anyway!! Gav and Craig also stood out for me and generally I thought we played pretty well on a tough pitch. So I believe we were the better team. If it were a cold winter's day Nicholls would have had frostbite on his hands as he had nothing to do for almost 90 minutes. Therefore I feel it was a bit of a mugging.
Finally, I thought I'd say something about the ref. Given the negative, and quite right comments for most of the season, I thought I would say the ref had an excellent game today and got the decisions spot on. It was a local derby and there were NO bookings (as far as I could see). When was the last time that happened? I was standing with the scummers in the first half and it was quite funny listening to their complants about decisions that the ref got right. Right in front of us we had a throw in that quite clearly it came off a Bobbin yet they still complained although tongue in cheek VotP did say the ref couldnt have seen it which was true but he got the decision right which is all that matters. It didn't stop one man, who I can't call a gentleman given the colourful language he was using especially his fondness of the c word, to give the ref a barrage of abuse. Get some glasses you fool without rose tinted specs of course, then you might see the game better.
Anyway I'm sure we will beat Margate and Tonbridge in the play offs!!

Well I thought it was a fairly poor game and once again shows the standard of this division. Nice to see that Dundo still likes a pie and Laurent's arse still gets in his way. The fact that we are both hopeful of a play off place doesn't say much I am afraid. Still, its the getting there rather than the journey that is important.
My favourite part of today was standing near the tunnel amidst home fans and shouting "Doswell out!" and then watching his bemused face as he tried to work out the culprit. Hey, Dosha, it was me!
Here's to the play-off final!

You're such a wag! Indeed it would be good if we both get there. Good to see you and Maz again VotP. We must meet up for a beer soon.

Although it wasn't a disaster today, we should have killed them off when we had the chance - they managed to capitalise on probably the only mistake the defence made today.
I never thought we were going to lose, and to be honest we never looked like we were going to lose - its no coincidence that 2 ex bobbins (Hamici and Dundas) ran their socks off today, both having a very positive influence. Just disappointing the let a goal in like that. What is evident is that if Carshalton do go up, it is mainly down to the ex-Us in the team ( I still think one of the few mistakes Dos made with last years team was to let Ug go), but with Birds tactical mind, they'll make Fisher look like Man United!
Onwards and upwards - we're still 4 points in the play off positions. Bloody hard trying to pick MoM today - at one point in the 2nd half I was actually thinking of presenting it to the whole team, but after considering Hamici, Dundas, Kes and Gav, I gave it to Mr Bond, not just for his solid performance today, but in recognition of how immense he was on Saturday too

I thought we played really well today, all over the park i thought we were better than carshalton. My MOTM was actually Deano. I thought he played superbly today, winning alot of balls and acting as our play maker for alot of the game. I thought the back four were very good.
Agreeing with Delboy on the fact that we dropped too deep for the last 15, because i think Phillips got into the defenders faces when they were passing it around at the back, i thought this was his best game in a Sutton shirt.
Well done U's!

I've no wish to associate myself with the robbery comment, which (whatever actually happened) I think is a shameful post. I would agree with votp that this wasn't a great game, and on this evidence I wonder how either side would fare back in BS South. But once Steve Watts and David Hughes were on the pitch, the quality of the play improved.
I thought overall we had the better of the game, but Carshalton scored the better goal.
I'd have taken a draw at the start of play. Margate are desperate for points to stay up, so next Saturday's match looks likely to be a tense affair.

If I may have my two pennyworth, you surprised us by bringing Dundas so deep today, man-marking Jolly most of the game and clearly your plan was to stifle us with nine men behind the ball - quite a compliment.
We struggled to get our football going, but at least we tried to pass the ball! When we bought on two more footballing midfielders (Kadi and Beckford), you couldn't live with us - and if the game had gone on for ten more minutes there was only one winner.
As always you were well organised and efficient. As always I'm glad I don't have to watch you week in week out. :-)

Passing the ball from left-back to centre-back to right-back to centre-back to HOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFF does not equate to the sexy football that Birdbrain seems to go on about so often

Shouldn't you be busy sorting out the utter dogshit posted on your official website before posting here mate? Talk about fantasy island.
As for the game, thought a point was about right overall. They nicked the first half without doing too much, we dominated the second 45 once we scored.
Two good goals, Gav great turn and take for ours, delivery for theirs was a goal as soon as it left his boot. One of those that you think "Ide or Jolly is on the end of this....". Bit disappointed we didn't close out the game at the death TBH, although Watts and Billy could have sealed it before they levelled.
Actually one of the first derbies I can actually remember feeling like a proper derby. They actually brought a few, although nice to see their own website mug off their support by claiming they only brought 100!
I'd get therapy if I were them. Seems to be some serious self loathing issues over at Coldsore. ;D
BTW, anyone else see Bird running over to their support to celebrate wildly at the final whistle?? WTF? Get a bloody grip man. You drew. Now won the fecking world cup!
