At last night's Ryman League annual dinner, the U's were given the award for Best Programme in the Premier Division. Well done Lyall.

Well done though Ed, i know alot of time and effort goes into our programmme and Weds night deadline can be a late one. Very well deserved.
Congrats also to the many programme contributors for your part in the award winning proggy also.

Well done to all concerned. Despite relegation the programme has maintained its' quality. that of a publication fit enough for the Conference I mean Blue Square League.

Thank you all - I'd also like to thank everyone who helps (Tony D, Mark, Chris, John J + SUST, Ali, Paul L, Richard and Mark at Old Dairy, Mr Doswell, et al). I'd love to do a big overhaul one year, but costs dictate a lot of the time (adverts still need to be sold, etc). I'm not sure about where the costs really are but if money needs to be saved why not go back to the pre 99/00 size (A5?) and just make the print smaller? (We could then try & do a sponsorship deal with the local Specsavers franchise!!!)
If not have a glossy cover with a paper interior.
If need to go smaller (in pages) cut down on the match reports providing a brief para on the "main events" Mr D did an excellent mach report like this during the 90's.
I always think content is more important than glossy presentation & fillers like loads of photos - Hastings produced a good effort last season and it was interesting to note that we beat those clubs who like producing colour photos (loads of them) but there was no original content other than the editorial. I think the current use of photo's in the proggy is about right.
You could also put the line-ups on one page & make them smaller as I'm not sure how many people take much notice of them these days.
Anyway, just a few thoughts.

Well done Lyall! Lot's of valid points made by Mark. To make a desirable product it must have as much unique content as possible. Possible the best read- PD comments- can be found elsewhere. Is it possible to have more articles/comments from the playing staff? I think Bruce should have a regular slot  There are lots of articulate United fans who could contribute more (obviously I'm not one of them). Well done to all who do contribute, you have done us proud  |

Yours is the best part of it by a country mile.So much of it is the same every game including the front cover that 2 quid is a diabolical liberty as compared to 3 for a premier league programme. |

Certain pages such as ads have to be the same each week both because of league regs and printing costs (I believe some pages are printed in bulk to reduce costs). Other pages change by the week - appearances, stats etc. I'm sure Lyall will be in touch with his contact details |
