Looking forward to it, its all to play for. Lets hope the real Sutton turn out!!.. With 3 ex Sutton players in the H & R side should add a little extra to the atmosphere. I noticed that a certain Trevor Roffey is on their coaching staff!!

Not knowing the area, does anyone know whether their clubhouse/bar is the best bet for a pre match swifty, or is there a preferred local watering hole?

We usually go in the Jolly Coopers on the High Street pre-match. Nice little pub. Good beer.
Took the place over when we last visited at Xmas in Conf South.

Is there any quicker public transport than 1.5 hours on various trains; otherwise I shall drive the 30 minute commute.

Trains from Wimbledon take 25mins(2 an hour) direct to Hampton. So Sutton to Hampton via Wimbledon seems a good bet.

If you want a nice pub I like the Bell Inn on Thames Street just around the corner from the ground, nice atmosphere good beer and food. I don't know many pubs but as I worked around the corner for 15yrs I know this one and its got a car park so you might want to leave your car there and walk the few hundred yards to the ground? www.viewlondon.co.uk/pubsandbars/the-bell-inn-userreview-10498.html

From TFL
SOUTH WEST TRAINS: On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October there will be delays and diversions to all trains through Wimbledon. Most trains will be diverted and retimed, and there will be no trains west of New Malden towards Surbiton and Hampton Court. Passengers for Surbiton, Thames Ditton and Hampton Court should use replacement bus services from Tolworth. Passengers for Berrylands should use local bus K2 from Tolworth or Surbiton. Reported: 20/10/09 02:04 Last Updated: 20/10/09 02:04
Up to Clapham Junction and back out to Hampton maybe of some use.

The engineering work is actually at Surbiton. The trains to Hampton (not Court) are not affected as they turn left at New Malden via Kingston and Teddington to Hampton. Shepperton trains leave Wimbledon at 028 and 058 arriving Hampton at 053 and 023. Alas I'm late turn so will not be attending.

All eyes on Sutton, says Hampton boss
Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Devonshire has revealed Saturday’s clash with Sutton United was the main reason behind making five changes to his starting eleven at the weekend.
Hot-shot striker Dave Tarpey - recalled from a productive loan spell at Walton & Hersham - Michael Lee-Charles, Ashley Smith, Nathan Collier and Elliott Braithwaite all featured in Saturday’s dramatic 2-2 draw with Worcester City.
Marcello Fernandes, Lawrence Yaku and Jon MacDonald all dropped to the bench, but were required as Graham Harper departed early through injury and Orlando Jeffrey received a red card for conceding the penalty for City’s 47th minute opener.
The winners this weekend will pocket £25,000 and the possibility of drawing League One big hitters Leeds United, Norwich City, Southampton or Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup first round proper.
And Devonshire, whose team are unbeaten in their last five games, believes that means the form book will be thrown out the window come kick-off.
“It is a big game for both clubs. We are one win away from playing a professional club, it is as simple as that,” he said.
“The fact they are in a league lower than us doesn’t make any difference. We found that with Aveley in the last round, so we are expecting a tough, tough game.
“With the current financial climate as it is, getting through would be a massive result for the club and that is why we rested a few players. I’m sure they did the same.
“Yaks started on the bench just to make sure we had some strikers available for the Sutton game. It is all about the FA Cup at this stage.”
Devonshire has injury concerns over Harper, Ian Hodges and Craig Dundas, while midfielder Francis Quarm has long since been ruled out.
The weekend’s draw was filled with controversy when skipper Dean Wells was booked having been felled by a tackle that would see Worcester’s Rob Elvins join Jeffrey in taking an early bath.
“I’m not saying too much about the referee, it is not worth it. I think we would have won the game had it not been for one or two decisions,” he added.
“It was a good performance from us. The boys that came in did well against a very good and physical side that has given us a lot of problems in the past.
“We are heading in the right direction.”

Sutton cup clash may not be pretty, says Matt Hann
Sutton United winger Matt Hann has warned Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Hampton & Richmond Borough for a place in the first round proper, may not be one for the connoisseur.
Boss Paul Doswell’s men will be looking to match last season’s cup run that brought League Two Notts County to Gander Green Lane, when they beat Aylesbury United at this stage last year.
The last time Sutton played a team from a higher level was Cheltenham Town in fourth qualifying round in 1997, and Hann reckons it is going to be a close encounter.
“It is always a great money spinner for the club and it makes for great memories for the players and fans if we can get there.
“Hampton have done very well recently. It is so important we respect them and their strengths. They have a lot of quality and experience, but we have the same in our team.
“We are at that stage where the game is almost irrelevant. It is all about the result.”
