Oh, and by the sounds of it someone was filming the match! Did someone come forward? Yep, the game was filmed as I understand all ours will be now and the plan is to get highlights up on U's TV with a compilation DVD being available at the end of the season to offset the costs. Cool

A hard fought game from which the very least we deserved was a draw. A wholehearted and honest affair which was crying out for someone to come on and put his foot on the ball and settle everything down - something Pouton did admirably when he came on.
One of the attributes of every side which PD puts out is effort; bags and bags of effort all the way to the final whistle and once again we finished strongly. I thought we edged a close game and certainly created the best goal- scoring opportunities. James Norwood had two very good chances either side of the interval and I thought Matt Hannio should have done better just before the break and I was half expecting Charlie Taylor to come up with the quality dream winner at the death when he slashed his shot high and wide. That said JN controlled the headed goal really well as AP's driven cross/shot was going like a bullet.
Pleased too with the attendance especially as the fixture took place so close to Christmas.
Onwards and upwards. This side will deliver.

I thought the cross for our goal was pretty appalling and couldn't believe it when James reached it (Shows what I know!). He was well onside though and passed the defender at some speed whilst said defender came rushing out (also at some speed). Must partially disagree about K's fans as it was nice to see a fair group of away support. I say 'partially disagree' as the same 'fans' stole the letters off the fixtures board after the game. What are they, about £2 a letter? I can't be bothered to add up the letters in 'Kingstantinoplion'

Maybe they're trying to build their own ground, stealing it piece by piece from every ground they visit.

They'd only lose it again.

Draw was the right result methinks.
Thought it was a pretty dull game overall. Very scrappy at times. First half they were the more effective, with our midfield looking all at sea. But despite having a lot of ball, they created only 1 real chance which Traynor squandered. We on the other hand somehow managed 2-3 presentable opportunities from a rather disjointed first 45.
Second half, I think we settled a bit more and they looked to be reasonably happy with the 0-0 the game was a nailed on cert to be until Scrivs howler. Although as Frakey said, their bloke took the opportunity well. Wasn't really confident we'd get back into it after that if I'm honest, but when the chance came it was taken.
First half wasn't helped by a dreadful display from the ref. Bottled a clear pen 1st minute, then proceeded to lecture or book anything in a Yellow shirt for 45 mins when similar offences the other way resulted in bugger all a lot of the time.
With regard to the goal, I thought it was offside. Whilst not dead in line, James was well beyond the man in the middle and didn't celebrate until a few moments later when I'd confrimed that the lino being surrounded by sky blue shirts on the far side meant it was going to count! I've since heard that at least 2 K's players have 'fessed up to it being legit and at least one of those was booked for protesting afterwards. Which tells you all you need to know about footballers today.
We're still stuck in that rut of 'good-bad-meh' performances and we need to break it. Plus first half today wasn't great, but chances came and again, we were guilty of not punishing sides when given the opportunity.
As for the away fans, I sincerely hope the chant of "what's it like to see a crowd" as the teams warmed down was intended to be ironic......

I guess that goes to show how audible you are down the other end! Fact is that whilst there is more of an effort now to make some noise from our fans you need a few more in to get a decent atmosphere down GGL. Otherwise it gets lost due the size of the ground.

Had one in my garden a while back & saw a few in a tree in Morden back in the autumn. Noisey buggers.

The more observant among you will have noticed large flocks of Parakeets at two grounds visited this season. Loads in the park behind Margate and bloody hundreds flying around Hampton and Richmond. Rumour has it they escaped from two sources.Jimmy Hendrix kept them as pets and decided to release them and some were meant to have escaped from the set of The African Queen at Shepperton Studios. They then did what comes naturally and now there are thousands of the buggers around. One West London Rugby Club has named its seconds The Parakeets as several thousand roost at their ground. Enough of my Ornithological wisdom. Merry Christmas to the Management Back Room Staff and the best bunch of supporters in the Land. Come on Sutton!
