www.guildfordcityfc.co.uk/index.htmlAs one or two of you are getting (over) excited (Taz) regarding a new ground. Be warned, it is an extremely spartan set up at The Spectrum. The "official" club bar is a brisk walk from the stadium. There is a bar in the Spectrum Centre. Anyway, all you need to know is on their very good website. CC

When is it?
Can you drink on the terraces?
Will there be segregation?

I have actually sat in some seats in this ground, wishing to sit in the sun instead of skating around a freezing ice rink. It's a good standard.
Half price entry if you're an Aldershot Town season ticket holder? Is the owner a Shots supporter then?
I quite like this on their forum: 'Third round of the Senior Cup will see top-half Ryman Premier side Sutton United visit the Spectrum.
Yet another chance to be mocked about the running track awaits then...!'

Ah, somewhere I won't have to look the directions up for, as I sometimes played 5-a side footie there when I had my recent 2 year stay at Belmont ! If my memory serves me right though, I think you have to pay to actually get into the Spectrum Centre itself, before you can use the bar inside there !!!
Vern, it's "scheduled" to be in the period of the 20th to 25th Jan according to the Surrey FA Website, the winners away to either Croydon Athletic or Crystal Paalce in the 1/4 Finals which are due to be played on the 24th Feb.

Any opportunity to get to a new ground is fully welcomed by me! We don't get to go to enough places like this. The elevated terrace\stand that they have looks very strange.

From what I can tell, they come on to a song to the tune of 'The Sweeney', and the words are: "The City, the City; we all go to the Spectrum to watch...the City, the City; we all followed the Guildford City..."

They used to be a well supported club and i remember going to see one of their games at the old ground(now a housing estate), but not too far away from where they play now. Just read the history on the website.Quite sad really.

Greetings from Guildford City... just here to give you lot some info about us and our ground etc.
There is a club bar within the ground, not just in the main sports centre. It's at pitch level and serves a range of hot/cold drinks/food, as well as beer etc. (Bottles of Hog's Back T.E.A. being the biggest seller).
As with all grounds, you are not allowed to take alcohol out of the clubhouse!
There is no segregation, and spectators are currently only allowed on one side of the pitch (in the main stand). We know the Spectrum is a pretty nasty place to visit, and believe me, we're trying everything possible to move somewhere nicer! But for the time being it's where we have to play and we don't have a lot of choice about it! And the view from the elevated stand/terrace thing is actually one of the best around!
We only occasionally have dead pigeons.
The supporters group is nicknamed 'The Sweeney' - and yes, we often run out to a specially recorded version of the theme tune. But those words were an ill-advised drunken concoction and are never actually used!
We have a half decent fanbase for our level, including a number of supporters from the local university. Hopefully we'll have a fair few of them there (the match should be played when everyone is back from the Christmas break!) so we can give you a run for your money in terms of chanting!
All the best, and see you in January. Remember not to bring any good players please!

Thanks for your post regan, it's much appreciated. I'm looking forward to the match and wish the club all the best in the future, trying to emulate the past club of the same name. Hopefully we'll bring quite a few along and buy lots of beer which you can't take onto the terraces. Just one question. You don't remove the bottle-tops of Cokes do you? Cos that REALLY annoys me!
