...3 points is three points! Did we play well and who turned out today.
Just looked at the league table, pretty tight at the top ( excl Dartford) goal difference could be important at the end of the season.

3 points most important thing and 2 back to back league wins with the cold and pitch being the most memorable aspects of the day. We scored 3 although the 2nd and 3rd were a little fortuitous the sort of things that don't go your way sometimes and created quite a few good opportunities in the 1st half. I get the feeling that our forwards lack understanding of each others position, that final ball often just doesn't find its man we are very individual in the final 3rd albeit talented individuals. FQ was superb in the 1st half but faded a little in the second, maybe due to fitness? My MOTH was actually JN, I thought he was magnificent in that 2nd half up front providing probably our only outlet for long periods and holding the ball really well, its a shame that one did not go in.
I quite like Aveley they play some decent football and are probably a bit disappointed they did not come away with a point, they are a good team in the making and have fully endorsed their RP credentials.
I thought we defended well for the most part DB having a good debut won his headers and AJ putting in another well AJ type performance. The pitch did not really suit our game at all as the 2nd half showed when it completely cut up. A very difficult game to play in I should image and credit has to go to the lads for digging in and getting the result.

Pitch in shocking condition. Did I read played on Tues and Weds? Hardly surprising it's in that mess and not much anyone can do without spending a whole heap of money!! Anyhow should be better away next week at Dartford who don't seem to be anything to fear at the minute (on their patch). 2nd place still well up for grabs in this league.

A valuable 3 points against a mid table side. I agree with OS, I like Aveley, small club punching above their weight, but are doing a good job of it on limited resources. And their style of play was not the usual 'stick the boot in' that a lot of small sides at this level have.
MOTM for me was Norwood, he ran them ragged especially in the 2nd half. Honourable shouts for Taylor for the great finish, KES for a very strong performance at right back and Matt Hann who scared the pants off them.
Started off brightly, 2nd half was lacking entertainment, but 3 points is 3 points, and our 2nd 'double' of the year.
Surprise result of the day has to be Borehamwood knocking 4 past Horsham. Not the result itself, but the 4 goals - they have a great defence, but not great at scoring. That changed today, and leaves us with the 3rd best gd in the league.
Next 3 saturdays we have the teams in 1,2 and 4th to play. Getting points off those will go a long long way to us making the cut come the end of April.
Well done on 3 points today - deserved, but I always thought we had more in the tank today if we needed it.

Good 1st half, but the match petered out, with no attacking substitutions really made (which is understandable). Defence showed some frailties, but reasonable. This puts us 6th in the League, with our GD (+11) only bettered by Boreham (+12) and Dartford (+41!). Onwards and upwards!

We won and that's all that matters. The pitch offered a very difficult surface to play on, particularly towards the CR end.
The lads responded well to going behind to a fabulous strike by their no 4 (?), albeit helped by their 'keeper. Charlie took his goal well but Francis Q made his goal out of nothing, he was faceing the corner flag at one stage but sheer strength & ability enabled him to find Charlie and then provide the finish after the 'keeper had made a good save.
Aveley have impressed in both our matches with them this season but each time I think we edged it.
I also thought the ref had a good game today, I don't think I shouted at him once!!

An important and, in my opinion, deserved win. Both teams tried to play good football which became more difficult in the second half as the pitch inevitably cut up. Nonetheless I thought it was an entertaining game to watch.
Btw os; there was nothing fortuitous about our third goal. Francis Quarm's splendid run down the right wing was ultimately rewarded when he got on the end of Charlie Taylor's intelligent near post lay-off following FQ's cross. The first strike was well saved and he richly deserved his gleeful dispatch of the rebound after his part in the excellent build-up. A good goal.
I was also really impressed with the way Charlie collected and then finished his chance and James Norwood's excellent work rate deserved the present Aveley's 'keeper gave him too; very coolly slotted.
Job done lads. Well done.

I meant with the rebound from the save, quite often they go to saftey and it was nice to see one go in our favour for once, but I am not taking anything away from FQ's excellent work.

Oh yes three cheers for their keeper, who seems to be emanating William Foulke, or am I being harsh? He made a lovely mistake to let in the second goal, and I quite enjoyed his brief stay at the other end of the park in the closing minutes.

I agree with AB that all three of our goals were the result of the effort, endeavour and talent of the goalscorers. Taylor's goal in particular was a far more difficult finish than it may have appeared with two men covering and a tight angle.

Good result taking 3 points and at the end of the day thats all that mattered but i thought our midfield was totally outplayed for long periods of the match.Pitch certainly wasn't easy to play on and that probably explained all the mis placed passes.Avely i noticed had the same ideas about defence as us with 4 giant defenders.

Two league wins in a row (that makes a nice change) even though we could have played better in both. Lets hope we have kept a really good performance in the tank for Dartford away.
It was too patchy today and letting Aveley back to 3-2 just made for a nervy last half hour or so.
I have to say that the 50-50 challenge Kes made that helped lead to the second goal was fantastic. I was right in line with it and he would have been in trouble if he didnt time it so well.
Francis Quarm looked good again and the new guy was solid enough and had a bit of presence about him. Here's to an upset at Dartford.

This was a match we were expected to win, but more importantly needed to win having dropped too many points since the end of November.
We were worth our 3-1 half-time lead, despiite going behind to a great strike that none of our players can take the blame for. I agree that Kes did well to set Taylor on his way for the equaliser, and that Quarm fully deserved to score our third. Our second goal was a gift from the Aveley keeper. But we did make heavy weather of the second half, as they pushed forward and got their second goal, whlie our chances came mainly from quick forays on the break.
We're now back up to 6th, three points behind three clubs on 39 points. But our next two games are against the top two, and (unlike most other Ryman Premier teams) we're without a midweek game until mid February. If we don't capitalise on our current league position we could soon find ourselves drifting back down to mid-table.

All thawed out now.
Ref was good, as mentioned previously.
Not sure what is wrong with Aveley? They are supposed to be from Essex and yet seemingly failed to bring one twit with them! I appreciate they have quite a small fanbase but if they don't start getting their act together and upping their quota they may not be allowed to enter their county cup - a disgrace to Essex!!!!
