Confused Surely quite a few players would have played in 3 consecutive cup ties as outlined. Is the question missing something ?

Sorry CoSec I was never good at setting quiz questions as it is always easy when you know the answer ;D Swap West London for Wembley and I think with your analytical brain you will narrow it down. First thing that strikes you that it must be the end of one season and the start of the next and then read the question again and voila !!

Allan Clarke played for Leicester in the 1969 final against Man City, then moved to Leeds so played in their home third round tie before playing at Sutton in the 4th round.

Knowall pressec ;D filbert may have been a clue too 1969 FA Cup Final Man City 1 (Neil Young) Leicester City 0 (The 4th time the Foxes had been to an FA Cup Final - losing all 4 ) Leicester got relegated and Alan Clarke signed for Don Revie's Leeds for £165,000 in the summer of 1969. Leeds played at home to Swansea Town in the 3rd round Jan 1970 (I presume Clarke played) Then of course the rest is written into Sutton United's own folk lore.

All I know is Leicester City never had a chance when down to 10 men in the first half in FA Cup Final 1961 after their RB Len Chalmers got injured against the double winning Spurs team (NO Subs allowed in those days ).
