Looking at the remaining fixtures for the other contenders, throws up the following : -
Aveley - included in their last 6 matches, still have to play at Wealdstone, at Dartford and finish at home to Tonbridge
Boreham Wood - still have to play at Tonbridge
Hastings - have K's at home and a tricky last game at Margate
Tonbridge - in their last 5 matches, still have to play home to Harrow, home to Boreham Wood, away to Hornchurch, away to Wealdstone and finish at Aveley..........all hard to predict !
Who makes the final 4 play off places is still extremely difficult to call IMHO

Who makes the final 4 play off places is still extremely difficult to call IMHO There are 8 teams still in mathamatical contention for the 4 play off spots. It is likely that a win on Thursday will secure us a place and a win at Harrow probably mean a second place finish but its still all up for grabs.

I may be a lone voice here, and as much as I would love to finish 2nd, I really am happy with us getting to the play offs. I can't see going on the form of this season any real advantage for us being at home for them (in terms of chances of winning). What I do know is that out of the teams going for play off positions and unlike last season, I know we can beat any other of the teams who will also be there if we play like we can do. If I'm right, the only one we have failed to beat is Kingstonian, and both of those games we were unlucky not to have got all 3points.
We can, and if we want it enough, we WILL be in the BBS next season!

Is there a link between team performance and type of away ground? Smaller tighter grounds mean more noise, compared to the vast Olympic stadium of GGL?

We lost two home games last season (one of those was Notts County) so that would get in the way of proving that there's much difference.

I'd still take home advantage for the pressure games any day. We should get a bumper crowd if we do have the fortune of making the final and can finish 2nd. Our good away record and excellent travelling support gives us hope that we could do the job if we don't get the home tie too. So we should have confidence either way.

I guess our away record gives us hope if we do happen to be away and our support is also very good away from home. Agree to an extent, but I can't see us getting a bumper crowd of any shape or form if we get Boreham Wood at home on a Tuesday night, which is very possible. Luckily Ks, Hastings, Wealdstone and Tonbridge all have good support, but I think it will depend on the attractiveness of the opponents

That's why I said the final. The Tuesday night would be a standard home gate, might push to 600 if we're lucky!

I'm going for well over a 1000 on a tuesday night for a play off.We have a lot of closet supporters who only appear for the big games plus there will be quite a few neutrals attracted.

A win on Thursday will take us pretty much out of the reach of Hastings and Hornchurch - if they fail to win tomorrow, a draw would do. Which leaves us with Tonbridge and Wealdstone who could threaten us. They happen to play each other a week thursday and could knock each other out of contention.
The team to watch and has been for a while is Aveley, but with all the other teams gunning for play off places, there will be some infighting and playing each other happening. We cetainly have the most straightforward run in against teams with not much to play for except pride. There could be a lot of favours done for us by other teams in the next couple of matches, and if we get points on the board, our play off status could be confirmed this weekend, with the right results. Then we can concentrate on getting enough points to pass the Ks and get that 2nd place we want!

If we win our next 2 games, we'd look pretty much a dead cert for 2nd place and can rest players for the last 2 matches and go for draws. Not entertaining maybe but if it's gonna get us to the BSS I'd prefer it. K's only have two matches to play, so would be much fresher if we don't/can't do this.

I agree that it would be great to have wrapped up a play-off place (and maybe even runners up spot) by the 24th when Billericay come to GGL. Only a few more points are needed. We can then relax a little in our final game of the regular season.
I've little doubt that the tussle for play-off places will go right to the wire. Aveley and Tonbridge both play on the evening of Thursday 22nd (away at Horsham and Wealdstone respectively) before meeting each other (at Aveley) on the 24th. Hastings have a tough-looking trip on the 24th to Margate (who may need to win to stay up). These sides will be using up a lot of energy (physical and nervous) in these matches, which could be to our advantage if we play one of them the following Tuesday.
