Sholing are Southern League Premier South (Hendon, Harrow, Dorchester etc) Sholing, managed by Dos, beat Havant & Waterlooville 5-1 yesterday. A club very much on an upward trajectory. I went to their ground six years ago when they were flying in the Wessex with a 100% record and they hammered Pagham 6-2 in the Vase that day. They were only averaging gates of about 150 at the time, but this season, with a nice new stand having been installed in the summer, they’ve been attracting as many as 1,005. There were 762 against Havant. Well worth a visit if you get the chance.

I see Helge Orome is captain of AFC Whyteleafe nowadays - can someone perhaps jog my memory and remind me what happened to him under Dos, did we have him on trial or perhaps signed but didn’t play got the hump then left?!

I watched Redhill v Epsom & Ewell yesterday, which ended in a 2-2 draw after Redhill had taken a two-goal lead. The legend, aka Dundo, started in central midfield for E&E. He wasn’t as influential as I would have expected, but he did manage the whole 90 minutes, which is not bad for a 43 year-old.

Scottish FA head of referees Willie Collum has indicated St Mirren's Shaun Rooney should have been red-carded in the recent Scottish Premiership draw with Kilmarnock.
Rooney's challenge on Killie's Kyle Vassell went unpunished in the 2-2 draw on 14 September, with Rooney's action seemingly viewed as an attempt to play the ball.
