Given that we've beaten 2 teams 2 divisions below us and Brentford Reserves in friendlies, I wouldn't get carried away yet (sorry to be "off-message" here, people )! As for Lewis, it's clear that Haze really wanted Cartledge at centre back and has also pursued Fitzgerald (aged 37) for a centre back position, so it is not surprising that Lewis may feel unwanted. Everyone assumes we'll make money for him, but if no-one wants to pay, will we really keep an unhappy player in the first team or make him even unhappier in the reserves? Contracts often seem to matter little these days if a player really wants to leave. This is all very disappointing and I hope it's recoverable, because I'd certainly like to see Lewis stay. If it is Fisher who want Lewis, are they really as well off as has been stated here? Last season they dumped virtually the entire first team for financial reasons and their gates are still very poor and way behind ours.

Sorry SuttonView, what a load of drivel. Pre-season games are a chance to look at potential new players. Nobody was brought in with a view to forcing anybody out and you are jumping to totally unwarranted conclusions. Sometimes you have to accept that this is not Premiership football and club business is not conducted on the back pages of the daily papers. Maybe it would be better all round if the pro clubs tried that approach as well

Well, obviously you're "in the know" and I'm not, but some people on here seem to be pretty well informed and break news that proves to be accurate. We'll have to see what happens in respect of Lewis.

Lewis is on the transfer list. We have announced that. All of your comments about forcing him out with a 37 year-old replacement are what I am referring to. If your aim was to get a reaction, well, you've got one But if you actually believed anything you wrote

So no truth in the rumours that Chris Vagg is being lined up to replace Phil/Gareth in goal?

Too many hours playing FM2007 have taught me players go on the transfer list for all kinds of reasons, and half the time they come off it without being sold.
I'd prefer it if Lewis stayed, think along with Gray and Honey, he has been one of our best players of recent years, but change happens. Either way, I'm sure everything will work out for the best both for Lewis and the club.
(And yes I know FM is only a game!)

I can tell you that Mr Vagg's knee would not stand up to another match at this level. However, he did climb Scafel Pike a couple of weeks ago & wasn't the last to the summit. You can, I'm sure, guess who that was albeit by a few seconds. I was the first down though.
